  1. From your lips to the admissions committee's ears! BTW, any news from Emerson? How many programs did you apply to? Best of luck to you!
  2. I am with you. I am trying to distract myself with physics homework, but of course I am sitting right in front of my computer constantly refreshing the results page and keeping an eye on my email. At least we should know something by the end of this week, but after seeing the two rejections this morning I was sure I'd hear something today. As the afternoon rolls on, I'm starting to think it will be another day of no news. I keep telling myself no news is good news....but it's also torture!
  3. I'm wondering if I'm just one in a group of many that made this goof and they are so graciously 'strongly advising' us to rectify the situation, lol.
  4. I have no idea, but I was very surprised. I do remember thinking the directions were confusing/misleading, but obviously everyone else understood them just fine, lol. My CSDCAS application was completed on time. I am wondering if there were others that were also confused about the supplemental app. and thought they were not supposed to submit a supplemental application. Maybe somebody emailed the department about it or maybe there were enough people with the same error so they decided to extend it to those of us who only submitted our CSDCAS. The email was addressed to me directly, not to a generic group. It 'strongly urged' me to take advantage of their offer to extend the supplemental app deadline as they were planning on sending out notifications soon. I'm mostly surprised because I never asked them to extend it.
  5. Well, interestingly enough, I received an email yesterday from Radford with an extended opportunity to submit my supplemental application and fee. The email mentioned it was past the deadline for the supplemental application, but provided a link with an extended deadline of March 7th. I didn't request this. I had assumed I had messed up my application to Radford and didn't even think I would be considered. When I was applying, I really thought the wording on their application page stated NOT to do the second application and listed under the requirements were only the CSDCAS. Looks like I'm back in the loop.
  6. Ouch...so sorry to hear that, onedayslp. But, looks like you've been accepted to some great programs and have a few more to hear from yet. I still haven't heard anything, but now I'm afraid to go check my portal :-/ I applied to CU Boulder as well, so maybe we can suffer through waiting to hear back from them together as well, lol. I saw one acceptance phonecall post a long time ago and nothing since, so another odd-ball situation.
  7. Good luck with Emerson, Kiran! I've been noticing all the posts on the results page. You're welcome to suffer in here with us if you like ;-).
  8. This is definitely going to be a long weekend. It's certainly curious that acceptances, rejections, and wait-list notificatins have been sent out, but some people haven't heard anything yet. I'm starting to think the rest of us might not hear anything for another week or so since they said notifications are sent out in waves. Maybe they reserve sending some of the rejection/waitlist notifications until they see how many offers are accepted. But, then I wonder why they wouldn't just put everyone else they still wanted to give a chance to on the wait-list. It's all so confusing! LOL We made a trip out to Chapel Hill this past October to do some preliminary house hunting just in case because not only do I really want to be part of their program, but we'd actually really like to put down roots in Chapel Hill. So much so that we'll probably move to the Chapel Hill/Pittsboro area anyway if I don't get in. Good Luck to everyone! And to everyone else who has been accepted/rejected/waitlisted, thank you so much for taking the time to share what you know here!
  9. Hi Kiran, I didn't really think you thought someone might feel bad about your acceptance, just about our angst compared to others' acceptances in general. Awe, the pesky pragmatics of virtual communication, lol. It can be hard to portray tone in chat forums and I always try to make sure I am conveying the general conversational courtesies I am intending to portay. :-) Thank you for the further details about what you have received from the admissions committee. When I read your initial post, I didn't take away an explicit statement that no further acceptances would be sent out, but wishful thinking can play tricks on one's mind, can't it? ;-) I just thought it was informing the people who had been accepted in that wave would soon receive further, more official acceptances. Ce que sera sera One can always hope for a miracle, right? :-) I have applied to many programs, but Chapel Hill is my dream. If it isn't meant to be, it isn't meant to be. For now, I'll still wish everyone still hoping 'Good Luck!' Let's hope the campus opens long enough tomorrow to hear something. Ciao ciao ;-)
  10. kiran...(on my mobile and can't see the rest of your username as i reply), I would never be unhappy for someone else's acceptance. Congratulations! Thank you for taking the time to share that information. The inevitable is intevitable, whether it be good news or bad news. May I ask what time if day you received the email and whether your portal updated? I suppose I'll hold out hope 'til the bitter end, lol.
  11. This is certainly an exercise in patience, lol. Hopefully it will all be worth the wait :-).
  12. I have no idea where the students they accept into their program are from, but I have a hard time believing they are unfairly prejudiced to UNC-CH students. Firstly, they don't have an undergraduate major program, only a minor. That doesn't mean they don't accept some students from it, but they advertise pretty strongly that they are looking for a diverse group of students. In fact, in the lecture capture of the 'Accepted Students Meeting' from last year I am sure I remember one of the professors talking about how she felt so sorry for professors from other universities when they would mention that nearly all of their graduate students came from their own graduate program. If I remember correctly, she thought that sounded dreadfully boring. Speechie92 said Ina Diana mentioned they notify in 'waves.' I wish I knew what that meant! lol I'm guessing they start with their first picks for acceptances. I wonder how many rejections and wait-list notifications actually go out each day and how those are decided. *Sigh* I guess we'll just have to wait and see. At least every day that passes means we're one day closer to finding out! Good luck to everyone!
  13. This is good news! Still not totally clear news, but good news nonetheless! Double Phewf!
  14. Haha....ditto what Mimblewimble said. I was just going to post the same. Phewf! as my son would say. Did she happen to give any hints as to further notifications?
  15. Thank you for sharing :-). Somehow it helps to know something while waiting. Congratulations again!
  16. Mine says submitted/complete. Speechie92, when did you email Ina Diana?
  17. Congratulations Mimblewimble! Does your portal also say waitlisted now? Also, did you just receive the email or did it come earlier today? Also, did they mention how many people are on the waitlist? Sorry to hit you with so many questions! Thanks in advance if you're kind enough to answer. ;-)
  18. Somebody was just waitlisted.
  19. Speechie92, was that you that just posted getting an acceptance call yesterday? The stat numbers match, but they're reversed ;-). If so, congratulations! I wish I knew how late in the day the calls were made. So far only rejections posted for today. I guess no news is good news, but also driving me bonkers! I keep telling myself that I will probably hear something by the end of the week--but that feels so far away. *Deep breath*
  20. Best of luck to you, as well, onedayslp!
  21. Okay, I just went through my emails from UNC-CH. I have labels set up in my gmail to tag all the emails I get from each school automatically and put them in their own folders. Well, the email I saw the "decisions should be made mid-March," was actually in an email from the University of SOUTH Carolina! I'm so sorry to contribute to your stress. Just goes to show you can't trust gmail ;-/. Back to stressing out--a SECOND acceptance phonecall to UNC-CH was just posted. I may not get any sleep tonight. I know the last couple of years people received acceptance phonecalls over a period of a couple of days, and then a random call or two would straggle in within about a week. I really hope my phone rings tomorrow with a phone number from North Carolina! This is my dream program!
  22. Thank you, everyone, for your responses. While I agree that, in theory, the forums may be the best place to ask and answer questions about admissions results, the reality does not necessarily follow. As onedayslp stated, many people tend to post on and check the results page without visiting the forums. I agree there is a much better chance of receiving an answer on the results search page. I was hesitant, myself, to post a question there yesterday because I didn't want to clog up the page, overexcite people looking for results from a particular school, or alter the stats. Maybe a request to gradcafe asking them to adjust the results page so that specific questions regarding admissions results could be posted and replied to without altering the stats or clogging up the page. I think I'll do just that :-). You never know!
  23. Did anyone notice the ACCEPTANCE to UNC-CH posted today?? If the person who posted that is reading this, would you mind replying so we can congratulate you....and then attack you with a barrage of questions? ;-)
  24. onedayslp, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about! Yes, my application status on ApplyYourself is 'submitted.' I do not remember the specifics of the email; I just remember noting that when i was scanning through my emails the other day looking for anymore helpful or hints regarding a notification date. I am on my mobile, but when I get home I will look through my emails.
  25. I just noticed that the two posts made on the results page yesterday (by myself and another user) asking questions of the person who posted his/her rejection to UC-CH are not there today. Is there a policy I'm not aware of, or do these type of posts tyically disappear? I see inquisitive posts there often and they seem to stay for years. Just curious.
