  1. Yes 6 long years! And we agreed if I was accepted into a graduate program that we would move in together ... so I'm happy to say that is happening this summer Anyway, I salute you for wanting to give back! That's great, and from the looks of your acceptance list you have a good choice of programs! Congratulations!
  2. Haha! So I'm curious ... what is your top choice school?
  3. Also, here's a silly comment: When I see your username, I say it in my head "ARGGG SLP" ... like a pirate. No matter how much I try to tell myself it is just your initials... it still happens. And now you know.
  4. Nice topic, Amanda! Funny, I was thinking the other day how I really felt comfort in talking with you guys on the forum, yet didn't know too much about anyone besides their passion. Ok, I'll go next! My first name is Jess. I am 21 years old. I am a senior at Rutgers University, majoring in Linguistics and Psychology, minoring in Cognitive Science. I have been passionate about speech pathology since the beginning of high school, but decided to attend Rutgers (which does not have a speech program) because I heard great things about the academics, and it is also a great research university. I have been a server at an Italian restaurant for almost 6 years now. In my free time, I volunteer at a nursing home and spend time with my boyfriend, who I have been with for almost 6 years (ahh!). My career goals could go in one of two ways. Either I graduate school with my master's and would work with autistic children, or I continue on to receive a doctorate in the field so that I could become a professor (and maybe the small speech graduate programs would be able to expand and allow for more graduate students being able to pursure the in-demand career). Can't wait to hear about everyone else!
  5. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Me too!!
  6. I am really not too sure! For some reason I was under the assumption that it was mail, but I have no idea why. I completely agree with you! And the woman I talked to on the phone made it seem like it would be a while until we do hear back! Wah
  7. Thank you so so much! Shouldn't be long until you hear some good news too
  8. CONGRATULATIONS! I heard back from them last night as well: ACCEPTED!
  9. Hi everyone! I'm sure those of you who applied to William Paterson are anxiously awaiting decisions due to the email sent out last week from Dr. Magaldi. Today is the last day of the week, and we were told first round decisions would come out this week. I called up the graduate admissions office today and asked some general questions. I was basically informed that due to high turnout of applications for the program (an unavoidable and scary fact), decisions would most likely not be out this week. I still am not convinced, solely because my thought process is as follows: why send out an email about first decisions going out if they actually would not be? Wouldn't that cause the department to receive an abundance of phone calls/emails from anxious applicants? Either way, I figured I would post this here and inform everyone of the information I was given. Hopefully, I am wrong and some of us here back today/soon!
  10. Hmm ok, yes I definitely need to visit it if I get accepted then! The SLP I shadow also works with a graduate student from William Paterson, and the girl loves the program. Just need to check if the fit is right for me! I seriously really hope so! I have been stalking the mailman like crazy. But in all reality, I'm sure William Paterson will be sending out responses in waves, so only a few of us will know by tomorrow MAYBE. *crosses fingers*
  11. Hi! Thank you so much for saying this. Could you explain to me what exactly was the vibe you got at William Paterson?
  12. That's correct! I recently just found this out too and was a little frustrated. But remember, first round decisions include both acceptances AND rejections. So, it's better to not hear anything because that means you are still in the running!
  13. I just want to thank you for posting this. I have been so curious as to how they went about reviewing their applications and sending out decisions in different waves. How do you know all this?
  14. I live in a condo with 11 other apartments besides my own, and I am pretty sure my neighbors must think I'm crazy! I've been checking the mail obsessively starting at around 10 o clock every day for the past few weeks ...
  15. Same here! My mom and my boyfriend must think I have gone off the deep end ... it has become an obsession. Even finding out decisions about schools that aren't my top choice has become all I can think about!
  16. Thank you! You too!!
  17. Thank you so much! I really hope so :\
  18. Laughed so hard at this!!! And all of these as a matter of fact! I have dreams about this every other night, but nothing funny or too memorable. It really is nice to know I'm not alone in the insanity though!
  19. Same here! I was really looking forward to checking my status when I saw people were getting acceptances ... and I'm sure you understand how it feels to see that "complete ready for review" glaring back at us! Soon hopefully!
  20. Do you really think so? I saw on facebook that an old friend of mine was accepted, and she posted that an hour ago. I am assuming the email was sent after 5, unless she just doesn't check her email as often as I have been...
  21. Some people have heard back from NYU today. Sadly, I have not But, it shouldn't be too long for us!
  22. Exactly! I keep playing the same kinds of mind games with myself, but in all actuality all we can do is wait to see our results. Hopefully, we have a selection of a few acceptances, and then we can justify thinking about all these details
  23. I have seen CUNY acceptances/rejections on the results thread on this website. This is easier said than done, but if you have not heard back yet, try not to worry. No response is better than a rejection, and I believe most schools send out their results in waves (to torture the applicants a bit more I think).
  24. Hi! So, some people have checked their application status for Temple using the TU Portal. Here, you can monitor what step of the process your application is in. So, while mine still says "Complete and ready for review" some people have seem acceptances or rejections.
  25. Ahhhh same here! I'm refreshing my email every five minutes. I am not expecting anything tonight since it is after 5, but now I am even more worried since I didn't hear anything!!!
