  1. Acceptance phone call from saic fiber dept today Now to decide between cranbrook and saic. Argh
  2. so you guys who have received acceptance decisions from SAIC (congrats!) - have you received calls/other from department or from admissions office? im sort of dying
  3. thanks for the heads up! I went to a competitive art school for undergrad so I'm prepared for more debt, I'm just trying to minimize as best I can. I need to stop making decisions like a rich person. ha.
  4. This really makes me feel better thanks! I've sort of always ruled out cranbrook because of its reputation for being financially impossible but I'm gonna hold on to some hope
  5. hey ya'll I'm putting the carriage before the horse on this one (waiting to hear back after interview) but does anybody know the deal on funding at Cranbrook? After getting the generic admissions email and realizing that paying a $1000 deposit within 2 weeks may be a reality, I started wondering about their funding in general. I ask because I've heard mixed answers about this unicorn school thanks!
  6. Hey Supaslim- This is really tough. i get it. really. I haven't slept for a while- but try not to lose hope. we all need to keep reminding ourselves that this acceptance and mfa program business is all subjective, and that so many variables are spinning around at respective programs that there's a huge degree of all of this just being out of our hands. I also totally get the lack of funds and the lack of equipment - residencies are a really great way to get space and equipment. take a look at craft schools too (haystack, penland, arrowmont, etc) This is hard but people do go on to make work without an mfa degree all the time, and with limited resources. keep looking for different types of spaces where you can work! I religiously check nyfa.org's opportunities classifieds. keep your head up high and good luck! I think your work is really great.
  7. Research is key. It's so so important to find out what shows are where, who's speaking at what institution, what lectures you can make, etc. exhibition catalogues at libraries for past exhibitions (that can be researched on museum websites) are a great resource to essays and works. You may very well be at a disadvantage but it's not impossible to expose yourself to work I went to mica for undergrad- Baltimore is an amazing place! Good luck
  8. Sooooo- Saic-interview 3/1 Cranbrook- phone interviewed 2/15 VCU- wait listed via email
