  1. Congratulations! I received mine last week. Will you be doing the flex-time program or the full-time on campus program?
  2. Thanks for the feedback, RunnerGrad! That was very helpful! It is comforting to know that even some government sectors do not perceive the university to be of great importance. I have done some resume screening myself and I remember I only red flagged those with a sketchy US online "university/college" degree. I guess I will have to wait to see if I will get an acceptance from U Sask before weighing out my options and putting some thoughts on which program would be most suitable for me.
  3. Well, my reason for doing a distance program is because I have a very good job with great network that I am unwilling to give up. However, in order for me to advance in this job, I feel that I need an MPH to strengthen my knowledge in the field. I am normally not a fan of distance learning either but with the current economy not looking so great, I think it is wiser for me to keep a promising career that I enjoy than to risk being unemployed after I graduate.
  4. Thanks Kaitri for your input. I do agree that the professional world doesn't really care about the school but being a graduate from a few prestigious schools, I am a bit skeptical about choosing a school that is not as well-known or less reputable. I was limited in my choices to part-time online programs because my last stats course was completed a few years back and I am keeping my full-time job in the health care field. I guess I just need to wrap my head around the idea that it doesn't matter where I go as long as I come out with an MPH
  5. I'm curious to know how everyone is ranking their choices. Is it based on the program or the school? How much do you think the school matters when it comes to advancing on one's career/job hunting?
  6. Hi reachystik, I am glad I found your post on Lakehead's MPH program! I am considering accepting my offer from Lakehead but I have a couple of concerns about the program. Since I will be juggling between school (flex-time online) and a somewhat demanding full-time job, I am worried about the workload being too intense (i.e. lots of textbook reading, assignments). Do you find your workload to be too much? Also, do you feel that you are getting a lot of support from your profs now that you've been in the program for a few years? Thanks a lot!
  7. They're slow. It took them a week before they updated my status to "complete ready for review." Maybe send them another email with your CV/Resume attached? Do you know when are we expected to hear back from U Sask?
  8. I'm on the same boat here. I have yet to hear back from U Sask and I need to confirm my decision for another uni by mid March. Luckily, the university I got admitted to is my first choice but it would be nice to know if I have another option. I would put down my deposit if I were you but it all depends on how much you really want to go into that program. Good luck! Anyone applied to U Sask?
  9. I have a research and clinical education background with work experience in epidemiology research and hospital QI. Also co-authored some published papers and did some relevant volunteer work. I wouldn't say my GPA is spectacular but I think my other experiences make up for what I lack.
  10. Thanks asiangirl52! Hope you'll hear some good news soon!
  11. Hi Everyone, I've been lurking this forum for a few weeks now and finally have some good news to post! I've received an unofficial acceptance email from Lakehead for their Distance MPH program this morning! My application was completed the day before the deadline so it looks like their Admission Committee is pretty speedy. Hopefully this will give other Lakehead applicants some idea on how fast they work since they don't have a set date on when decisions are made. Good luck everyone!
