  1. My time is running out! I've lived here since 1999 but will be moving away over the summer. I'm not sure if mountain season's over for the year; if so I may just have to wait for Christmas break. I definitely want to try it out at least once!
  2. I've never had a cheeseburger, I've never had a manicure or pedicure, and one that stuns people here in Vancouver: I've never been snowboarding.
  3. I'm in a really similar boat right now, devynlyn! My heart is torn between NPSIA, and IHEID in Geneva. Both really, really great programs. IHEID didn't offer me any funding, and while the tuition there is very low, the cost of living expenses in Switzerland for two years would put me in some pretty serious debt. NPSIA, on the other hand, offered me a TA position which means I'd be in a pretty decent financial situation in Ottawa. So... glamour, or sensibleness? I'm sure the opportunities are amazing either way!
  4. I'm just aghast that OP is suggesting that this not only happened, but that no one ever reported it! The scandal this would've caused is unbelievable (sure you don't want to be going to the newspaper with this, OP?) And even in the Bizarro-world where professors at a reputable university would be crazy enough to do this, OP for some reason didn't dare speak up? I mean, am I just horribly misinterpreting what this person is implying? Please tell me if I am!
  5. Stop, stop, stop right there. Are you seriously trying to tell me that UBC engineering profs are soliciting bribes in exchange for grades? Is that what you're saying?!
  6. A little drop is probably not a big deal, although obviously you'll want to keep your GPA in the same range.
  7. It's a possibility, but another one that just occurred to me is that they're making their way through the applications alphabetically - Gabrielle's last name appears to begin with a B, mine with an A. Speaking of Munk, I haven't heard anything from them regarding funding, hmph. It would most likely still be too expensive, but it would be nice to get an email!
  8. I apologise for answering a question that wasn't directed at me but I figured I could chime in on this. I received my official offer yesterday along with $4K in scholarships and a TA position. I wouldn't say I had an incredibly exceptional application. 3.7 GPA, my references were probably generous but couldn't have been *stellar* as they didn't personally know me very well, some relevant (local) volunteer experience but no relevant work experience to speak of... I think my statement of intent was strong, though. Anyway, I'm quite sure this FGPA business is just a formality. There would be outrage if it were at all common for unofficial offers to be rescinded within the week. They're probably just taking their sweet time going through all the applications and ticking off the check mark box. I'm sure you'll hear from them very soon!
  9. Really hoping everything works out for you, icedtea!
  10. I've also been (unofficially) accepted.
  11. The next few days are going to be long ones. Sigh.
  12. Thanks for the info! Reassuring to know for sure that it's not just me. I'll just have to keep hoping for good news.
  13. Congrats on GSPIA, that's awesome! I have to admit, I'm not hugely optimistic about receiving an offer there. They only finished marking all of my application materials as "received" two days ago even though they were all in ahead of the deadline. Bah!
  14. That would be NPSIA - and yourself? Hey nirvie! I applied to the MA in Global Governance.
  15. Hi Archie! I'm another international affairs person. Received offers from Munk yesterday and Balsillie today, and am waiting to hear from NPSIA and GSPIA as well.
