  1. Looks like I'll be headed to Carleton this September. All this info has been great, just wondering if any leases come up in July/August? I don't want to be on the hook for 4 months of rent to catch the May leases (I'm paying rent right now where I live)

    :)

  2. Anybody hear from uvic regarding the MPA (online stream) yet for Fall 2014? I know the decisions were going to be made within the first two weeks of April and since this is the second week, I was wondering if anybody heard as of yet? I wonder how many applications they get fo rthe online stream?

I'm waiting for the On Campus results from UVic :( I was told early April, so I'm hoping everyone (on campus and online) hears soon! Good luck!

  3. I can't believe how long this process it taking! Still in agony waiting to hear about my MA application at UBC for Anthropology. At this point I wonder if no news means implied rejection. Is anyone else in this boat?

Good vibes to everyone else still waiting!!

I wasn't anxious until about 3 weeks ago. I've never checked my email this much in my life. I have a tight deadline on Monday and I'm praying that I get the decision from the school where I live before I accept an offer out of town.

Good luck to everyone! No news is good news! At least those waiting weren't outright rejected :)

  4. When I tell people that I've been accepted to a school in California (NOT "I'm attending school in California in the fall")

"California? You can't move to California!"

    I can and I might!

The second I told people about the offer in Ottawa, I`ve had tons of people asking me when I`m moving, what I`m doing with my animals, and also any plans for the summer are now `We have to do this before you leave!`

An offer doesn`t mean I`m going there! Gah.

  5. Thanks disba! I'm still very unsure of where I want to go! Have you accepted your offer yet?? :)

I haven't yet, I'm still waiting on my top choice (where I did my undergrad and where I currently live) to either accept me or reject me, before I make the decision. As much as I would love to move across the country, I have things that would be better left where I am (namely my horse haha)

  6. I think the 'unofficial' wait list is my least favorite. I don't mind a timely email keeping me informed that I'm on a wait lost, but when the University doesn't even email you and you find out after emailing them that you're on a waitlist of sorts - and there's no information on when you may get a decision. This was an incoherent rant haha

  7. I'm just a sad, anxious kitten. I also have to give Concordia my answer by the 1st.

I feel your pain! I was able to get an extension on my offer from Carleton, but when I emailed my other top choice they said I might not know until the beginning of April, and I have to give Carleton an answer by the 31st  :(

I can just pay a $300 deposit and accept my Carleton offer and then withdraw if my other school finally lets me know, but I'd hate to eat that $300 :(

edited to say: Also my other school is my alma mater and that application was due 2 weeks before Carleton's, and I got it in a week early. So I've been waiting even longer, and I'm getting anxious and whiiiiny.

  8. I have the same problem! I got accepted into Carleton (which I didn't think I had a chance of getting into) but they gave a small window of accepting or declining the offer. I just emailed my other choice and they said they wont be sending out offers until the end of March, which runs past my deadline for Carleton. I've just emailed Carleton asking for an extension, and I'm hoping this doesn't annoy them. Is there a chance Carleton could rescind the offer? Now I'm nervous haha

  9. Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone has applied to Carleton before and seen "Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs" as their Application Status? I know it's silly to wonder at things like this, but having my status change right before the weekend is harrowing -- even though it's probably a good thing. It's just at that point where I know I'm wait listed for my other choices and would love to have some decent news. :)

This wasn't for Political Science (MPA instead), but I saw my status in Carleton Central change to "Review in Progress" and a couple days later a decision was made and I got an email (an acceptance, yay!). I'd been checking the website fairly regularly so when I saw the status change to "Review in Progress" it was only a day or two later I got the email. Good luck!!

  10. Congrats!!!  I'm almost positive that I'll be accepting my offer from Carleton so we'll likely be classmates in the fall.

Thanks! I'm still waiting on the university I did my Bachelors at to make their decision (I still live there) I didn't think I'd get into Carleton at all, so I never considered having to make that decision. It'll be a tough one for sure (if I have to make it haha)

Congrats to all three of you!

Thank you!!! I had gotten convinced I wouldn't get in anywhere, so this was a happy surprise :)

  11. Due to a busy workday I hadn't checked my email all day. I checked it just after work, not expecting anything and I saw that I got an acceptance from Carleton!! I really didn't expect it because my application was a couple days late. I almost fell down in shock! Simple email just offering admission. I had to read it a few times to make sure I wasn't misreading it :)

  12. I just got accepted to Carleton's MPA program with a really decent funding package!!!! I'm still waiting on U of T's MPP program to see if I get accepted/offered funding, but I have a feeling whatever they offer won't match Carleton.  I'm really, really happy as Carleton was one of my top two choices.

Congrats!! My status on my application to Carleton MPA program changed to "Under Review" - I accidentally submitted mine a couple days late (was used to being able to submit documents right away, not wait for a few days, whoops!) , so I assume I'll be at the end of the line for admissions/rejections. I'm so nervous!

  13. I wrote the wrong name of the program for one of my school's statement of purpose -_-

I did the same thing but it was in the objective of my resume. I totally forgot that I had anything about the program in there, and I submitted it saying "Master of Public Administration" (the other 2 programs I applied to) instead of "Master of Public Service" - whoops!

I tried to email and re-submit (since most are fairly nice and will help you out when dumb mistakes happen) but they said it was final  :(  Ah well!

  14. I feel like I should have applied to one or two more schools. I felt like I was asking professors and other references for too much by asking for more letters though.

This is the exact reason I didn't apply to more! I only applied to 3, but now in hindsight I probably should have just avoided my politeness and asked them to submit their letters to a few more schools. I talked to a professor (who I know in a different capacity, more casual) from my alma mater and she told me that she gets mad when she is asked to submit letters for more than 4 places and it reflects in her letters. So I didn't want to run that risk, in case it was a University trend, since both my referees are from the same University.

  15. I applied to the MPH program at Uvic and I've heard nothing so far - I just checked their website and it says they extended the deadline for MPH applications from Jan 15th (when I submitted mine) to Feb 15th. I'm trying not to freak out and think this is because they thought they didn't get enough good applicants (including me) :(

I applied to the Public Administration program, and they also extended the deadline from the 15th, to the 31st. The poster above me had some really good points! Also my friend who got into the same program (who also went to UVic for her undergrad, just like me) said she didn't hear back until mid-March. So don't worry!
