After contacting the DGS, found out I'm waitlisted at Lehigh (very small WL; only two). The good news is they only make funded offers, so if you move off the waitlist funding is guaranteed.

I am gender and sexuality studies or pop culture; I don't actually know which was the group that accepted me. I also do 20th-century lit, so it's possible I am not that helpful for you. Sorry! 
 
Campus visit was very enlightening as to the fact that the department I visited was not the place for me! 

I have officially turned down offers from Alberta, Florida, and Ohio State this weekend, which I hope is helpful to some people here. 

So for all of you that have had your campus visits how did they go and were they what you expected? Also did they impact or solidify your decisions?

I would alert them immediately.  Why would you not? In fact I'd do it sooner than later so it doesn't seem like you are just hung over because you went to drinks after dinner last night. 

Declined BC this morning. Really hope it goes to a GradCafe human! 

Last fall when I was in the thick of research and beginning to choose programs, I finally watched Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and oh my god I am already eager to re-watch it. 
 
Every time I've applied to school (for college, for transferring to another college, for grad school) I rewatch the episodes of Gilmore Girls where Rory is applying to Harvard and Yale. I find it oddly comforting.

I'm leaving for Canada in four days. What are the odds I'll hear from all eight programs by then...

Hahahaha! Same! "The decision on your application was not favorable." Ok, cool. So why do you need to tell me three times?

If you show up, I'll totally go along with it.

Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind to crash the Yale admitted students weekend and be all like "Hey, it was a true joy to be accepted! Can't wait to get started!" and feign complete obliviousness to the rejection letter.

I got three separately-worded rejection emails and a physical letter for the same postdoc. It's like they were afraid I wouldn't get the hint and show up on campus.

If only they would send a chocolate gram. I'd be down to hear about it again if that was the case.

So BU rejected me by email about a week ago. Today I got ANOTHER email with a letter attached saying I was rejected, and the email stated that an actual letter would be sent by snail mail. What the fuck. I get it.

Getting waitlisted, for me at least, feels like a roller coaster. I was absolutely thrilled to get waitlisted because I hadn't heard any good news up to that point. Since I've been rejected to a majority of my schools, and three strong implied rejections, the new ride I'm on is wondering who on this board might elect another school over the one I'm waitlisted at. While I am always happy for those that get admitted to different programs, I hate to admit that I am actually even more thrilled  that those accepted to my waitlisted school are accepted elsewhere because then it gives me hope that I might actually receive an admit from this waitlisted school. So on top of my waning hope of getting admitted to these three implied rejection schools, I'm also checking to see if so and so got admitted elsewhere. Double the anxiety, double the obsessive lurking and checking and hoping. 

That's a smart idea. Also, is it just me or has anyone else gotten more spam phone calls with random area codes during these past two months than they have their entire lives? Because...it's really stressing me out!

So I'm on OSU's wait list. How many people do we think actually get in from the wait list, though? Are wait lists just false hope for most people? I just ate an entire box of skinny cow caramel chocolate; I'm ready for frank answers. 
 
Also, these sporadic Purdue acceptances are possibly driving me crazy. Just send them all out at once, Purdue. All. At. Once. Nobody likes the guessing game.
