  1. I've been eyeing purchasing a Surface RT for a while now, but I think I saw something about needing to install certain software programs for grad school. If that's the case, I'll need to get the more expensive Surface Pro, or go for a real laptop. Anyone know more about the software used in SLP programs?
  2. Yes, I'm headed into the 3 year track for SLP. It'll be a big change for me, but I'm excited about it. I've never been to Wisconsin, but I can imagine this will definitely be different for you. I think you'll like it, though. Most people are pretty nice, and there's always tons to do in the area. We're also not too terribly far from the beach or the mountains. I just am not a fan of the summers. I grew up in Louisiana, so you'd think I could handle the heat, but I'm not a happy person when the temperature gets up in the 90s. Anyway, welcome to the South this Fall! Let me know if you have any questions, I've lived here for over 8 years.
  3. Ha, I started a very similar thread in a different part of the forum exactly 30 minutes before you started this topic I'll be headed to GA State this fall. Initially, it wasn't my first choice, but it has turned out to be the best choice in the end. I'm thrilled to have been accepted and am looking forward to starting. I'm already in the Atlanta area but will be looking to move closer in town. Where are you coming from? What program will you be in?
  4. Has anyone else been accepted to GA State? Are you planning on attending? Why/why not? I've been offered a space and will most likely be accepting. I was really impressed with my visit and thought the current students were great. I'm excited to get started!
  5. So, is that by the end of this week or just by next Wednesday? Also, do we think this will possibly include out-of-state tuition waivers as well? I'm curious what their criteria for granting those is and how many they might offer. I would LOVE to go here but can't make it work without some help.
  6. No, still haven't heard anything. Should hopefully know by the end of the week, I'd guess. It's going to be a long week waiting for word on this!
  7. Did they give any indication when the new building is supposed to be completed? It does look beautiful but I somehow doubt it would be finished in time for me to be able to enjoy it. I really liked Knoxville, too. Very pretty and a good size. And I love the proximity to the Smoky Mountains!
  8. Thanks so much for the info! Anything else you can share from your visit?
  9. It's been two weeks since we received acceptance notices - when is it normal to get funding information? What's the protocol on asking if they've made their decisions yet? Would it be frowned on to ask?
  10. I'm in the same boat. I applied because I really loved what I could find out about the program and the research they're involved in. I went for a visit to the campus this weekend but didn't get a chance to tour the department as they're on spring break this next week. The more I find out, the more I really really want to go there. BUT, I just can't afford it without funding. I'm getting very anxious to hear back on that subject!!
  11. Did you end up finding anywhere nice? I'm planning to visit this weekend and would love to get a start on looking around for places to live. Also, have you heard anything yet on funding? (I was also accepted to the SLP program so we may be classmates!)
  12. Does anyone know how generous UT Knoxville is with their funding (scholarships/assistantships/out-of-state tuition waivers)?
  13. Well, I just logged in to the GradStatus portal and it said "Departmental Decline". Big bummer This was my #1 choice.
  14. I'm also anxiously awaiting news from UGA. I'm confused by the person who posted they heard by email from UGA...I thought they were doing snail mail notifications only? Fingers crossed that we hear something this week!
