  1. Sign your decision letter?
  2. I assumed it was simply not failing out but maybe it's more than that.
  3. Congrats, congrats, congrats! Anxiously waiting here on the east coast.
  4. Accepted! To the Pittsburgh only track, $6K/semester. My undergraduate record was a 2.9 GPA as a liberal arts major, no public or non-profit experience (3 years demographic work for a discount retailer). So whatever you brought to the app, you have a chance.
  5. Electronic letters or dead tree letters?
  6. Totally hear you and I'm in the same situation. My partner is enrolled in a chiropractic program outside Chicago but I've already been turned down by Booth (waiting on Harris). We've been long distance for half a year now and it's been about as tough as I thought it would be. Looks like it could end up being four years of long distance, too, which neither of us are looking forward to.
  7. Again, congrats. Haha, if I had that profile, I'd be a lot less stressed out about my outstanding apps right now. Why are you leaning away from GSPP? Excited about a different school? Or not interested in an MPP program after all?
  8. I don't basically. But CMU admits have been trickling out since at least this thread started, seemingly never more than one or two per day, so I'm assuming we haven't even seen a wave for CMU yet. As for Duke, I called the Sanford office last week after all the acceptances went out, and they confirmed that some accepted students had not been notified and they were still processing records. Plus we haven't heard about any conditional admits or waitlisted applicants so there's still some stuff from Duke for sure. I'm actually more pessimistic than I'm letting on but I'm holding out hope for both programs.
  9. Same here! Although, about the date, after I posted I realized it could have been an international admit from Europe and/or Asia. They technically would be the 4th already.
  10. Maybe not officially but definitely in their files, IMO.
  11. Wow, looks like it. Seems early compared to last year. I guess that's a good thing? Also last year seems like most people first heard through the mail. Seems like e-mails now, postal service package later (future e-mails also. Whoever just posted predicting they will be accepted on the 4th is incredibly confident. )
  12. Congrats cosmike! You had a pretty great day on the application front. Still waiting here... Rolling notification is so much more stressful than a single wave. Duke and CMU are giving me palpitations.
  13. Anyone that wasn't aware of the craziness that happened last year should check it out on the results search, haha. I just did. Left a lot of MPA and PhD applicants very angry. Apparently some sort of snafu with false acceptances? I really hope that doesn't happen again.
  14. Congrats to the individual who received an admit and scholarship today. Looks like decisions are just going to keep trickling out. My app still says complete and ready for review. Good luck to all. Hope there were no rejections yet.
  15. Hmm, I would like to petition them to release the remainder of their decisions already.
  16. Hey all, I just sent in my deposit to hold a spot at Pepperdine's School of Public Policy. I really like the program and location but navigating resources seem like it could be a challenge in school and after. Did anyone else apply to the MPP program at Pepperdine?
  17. Congrats to your S.O.! No news for me. I suppose it's a no, then.

    GRE/GPA

You know what they call that surgeon who got into medical school with a 2.7 undergraduate GPA and that general practitioner who finished at the bottom of his class in Low-Tier State School? Doctors. And probably doctors that take your insurance, listed on the insurance company's website with no other credentials than the M.D. next to their name and address.
  19. Yeah, I'm not sure you'll have time to do both mining and landscaping work, given the rigors of a Master's degree program.
  20. On the bright side, it doesn't only matter how many Sanford is aiming for; it also matters how many the school admits vs. how many it waitlists. If they admit 150 and only 55 chose to attend, the admitted students aren't at a disadvantage just because the yield's so low. But if they're only admitting 75 and waitlisting 75 and they end up getting all 55 from the initial admited candidates, then that would be entirely different. In that case, it would seem to make it one of the most selective MPP programs this year, from the little I know about acceptance rates at the top programs.
  21. All of that is great to hear (except your predicament this evening). Thanks for the fantastic info. Judging by what you said, I'm assuming that they'll be a significant number of waitlisted candidates but I'm crossing my fingers!
  22. Yeah, check out the cost of living calculations for your target programs. Lenders, federal and private, should allow you to take up to that amount. Some rare private loans will allow you to take more than that if justified by extraordinary circumstances. Plus if you have some significant and justifiable reason for needing to take out more, you can try working with the financial aid office at your target institutions. They may be able to increase their calculation for you.
  23. Any info on the number of applicants this year? Was volume up or down from past cycles? Anyone hear if Sanford was considering increasing the size of their MPP cohort to admit a few more good degree candidates into the program? (I know the chances are no one reading these boards has any clue about this. But just curious. )
  24. Hopefully, not much! Haven't heard back from CMU either. When did everyone submit their application? My application was submitted pretty much at the deadline.
