  1. Just turned down funded offers for a Lit Ph.D. at Florida State and Middle Tennessee State University. Also turned down a "funding decision to come" offer from the University of Memphis. My focus is Victorian Lit (and critical theory).
  2. Hey everyone, So I got an offer from School A, which is a 13 hour drive or $600-$800 flight from my current school. I also applied to School B, which is in the same state as School A, about two to three hours away. I'm visiting School A on Tuesday of next week for their open house. Since School B is in the same state, and it would cost me a significant amount of money (not to mention I'd have to find subs for my classes, again) to return to that state for another visit, I called the department and asked about my status. I figured this was a decent move, considering several acceptances to School B have already been posted by other gradcafe members. I spoke with the assistant to the program coordinator, and she asked for my name and then asked me to send her my question via e-mail. I did this, under the impression that she would look into it and get back to me in a few hours. It's been two days. Should I call or e-mail the lady again? I don't want to nag or burn any bridges, and I'm worried that checking up multiple times might give them a bad impression, but at the same time, it would be very, very helpful to know my status. Thoughts?
  3. Congratulations to you too, HereToday! I'm also waiting on the agenda, and I've been waffling back and forth a lot on whether or not I should actually go. I want to, don't get me wrong, but I'm having trouble swallowing the cost of a plane ticket or rental car on my current stipend. The program sounds really cool, but I also have better offers funding-wise. Grrr....decisions, decisions.
  4. Haven't heard anything yet, so I'm assuming it's the waitlist or rejection for me at this point. However, I did notice when I checked my online status that it listed all of my transcripts under a "transcripts needed" section, even though I sent them all and have e-mail confirmations from the colleges that they were processed and sent. Is anyone else seeing this?
  5. Reviving this thread now that FSU has started to send out acceptances this year (one of which I received, yay)! Is anyone going to the open house?
