  1. I am waiting for MPA decisions. PEPM is my second choice, however I have not recieved deciison from admission office yet.
  2. Do not lose time and money with a overrate program like SIPA. go to en business scholl if you wanna master finance
  3. Alloy, I am still waiting for admission decision. From this forum I see that generally MIA and MPA-DP applicants are sharing info about accepence. Anyway I guess Friday will be the last day for the first round. Afterward there will be additional evaluations for "waitlisters". When we consider the people who give more value to SAIS rather that SIPA...or more value scholarship to 100k tuition, I hope there will be some chance for waitlisters. Accepted: SIPA PEPM, Waitlisted: Michigan MPP, UPennn MPA Rejected: Duke MPP
  4. I'm curious to know whether anyone has insights regarding SIPA's one-year program in economic policy management (PEPM). It appears that the program is for mid-career professionals but I wonder what the students age range and experience level are. How reputable is the program? Does the SIPA community treat and perceive those students the same way it does the MIA and MPA student? I appreciate any insights.

  6. I received a notification mail and official acceptence. This is saying: "As a provision of your enrollment, you must enroll in an intensive English language program at Columbia or in your home country prior to enrollment. Depending on your progress in these classes, you may also need to take more English classes during subsequent terms. This requirement will help to improve your English language skills in order to meet the demands of SIPA's rigorous curriculum." Do you have any idea about "Englis Prep" ? My TOEFL was 100 (29r, 27l, 27w, 17l)
  7. I guess there is not much attention to PEPM in this forum : ) Do not be shy people, share some thouhts
  8. I accepted from PEPM (no funding) and still waiting for MPA results. This the third day, hope I find my answers today! Waitlisted: Upenn MPA, Michigan MPP Rejected: Duke MPP
  9. I think you are right, the PEPM results are started to announced two days ago, and I am one of them: ) Still waiting for my application result to "real" SIPA MPA thoug. According to last years' "gradcafe results page" the decision will made between 17-26 March. And I guess they realase results gradually between these periods. Finally why SIPA? International focus, very attractive New York city and ivy league trade mark!
  10. I am accepted to. No funding and joint japan worldbank scholarship. Still waiting for my MPA application results to SIPA
  11. I did not received notification be-mail. However when I checked the website learned that I Accepted. No funding and joint japan worldbank scholarship. Still waiting for my MPA application results to SIPA
  12. Yes I am still waiting for results. Is there anyone who contact the admission Office?
  13. First things first, even though UPenn is actually ranked as well as Columbia, it absolutely does not have the name recognition of Columbia outside of the Northeast. Most of my California friends have zero idea what UPenn is nor that it is a great school and an ivy league. I have even had friends tell me "no it's not," etc. Fels is a great program, and I really like UPenn. However, if someone is internationally focused SIPA is a better bet by far. If someone is domestically focused, Fels is great. My biggest issue is that Fels offered me a good scholarship AND I have family near Philly I am trying to stay near. SIPA didn't offer me any money and it is farther from said family.
  14. UPenn has very famous business school - Wharton. We can take some elective courses there (maybe something, what is useful for public-private partnerships or government and business (something like this). Among my friends I know many people who were admitted by SIPA (alumni, current students and applicants who are attending now). And I do not know anybody who was admitted by Fels (I heard about only rejections). Thus, Fels seems more unique than Columbia. About NYC - except Manhattan there is nothing to do (even northern Manhattan is not attractive). NYC is more expensive for housing and others. However I heard that Philly also has many ghettos and only couple good neighborhoods (University City and City Center). But UPenn's campus definitely looks like campus, while CU's is not so big. Do I need better international recognition? I believe that intelligent people know both Universities well
  15. Hello. I am facing the exact same decision: whether to attend SIPA or Fels. Having visited both and talked to a lot of people about both programs, the difference seems to be basically that SIPA is much stronger for international careers and Fels is great for domestic government and non-profit work, especially in the United States
  16. Hi guys! I'm from Turkey. My major is Master of Public Administration. I'm interested in govermental financial instituions. . I was admitted by SIPA and Fels. I'm scholarship student and tuition for me does not matter. Therefore I want to choose the best school for me. I heard that SIPA has better international recognition (probably because of International Affairs), while Fels prepares specialists for the U.S. and little bit international. Also heard that SIPA does not care about students so much as Fels - for example - they just say which books to read and that's it, while at UPenn professors closely work with students. Is it true? I heard that Philly is better for studying than NYC, but NYC has better night life and amusements. May you share your opinions please? Feel free for everything... Thanks!
