  1. sup playa

san diego is nice this time of year

  2. when did you hear from Johns Hopkins? I'm waiting on the Humanities Center for Intellectual History...
  3. University pf Oregon is all about environmental philosophy, as well as UC Santa Cruz. The latter program is suffering right now, not accepting PhD apps... check out Oregon though.
  4. what again is continental philosophy? some kind of catch all? I research political & social philosophy as well as the history of metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and contemporary political ontology. Most of the authors I encounter are French, save for one Italian... because these authors are "from the continent" I should choose "continental" even though my interests are much more specific than that?
  5. i laughed and laughed-- thanks for the post... although i am applying to 'continental' schools [hence leiter report doesn't apply], the stress remains (vanderbilt and washu were among top choices and I was NOT on the top of their list apparently.
  6. I like your logic. Screw ETS, I'll keep my $50. Good-luck!
  7. Philosophy MA, Applying to PhDs for philosphy (continental schools) -- V. 730, AW 4.5-- I expected a 5.5-6. I know I'm in the same boat as a lot of people here. I can write. I even studied how to write for the GRE (I got 4.5 2 years ago and was disaapointed, this last time around I really tried to write "for them"). I'm considering having it regraded-- ha sanyone had luck in a score improving? How long did it take for results? Many of my apps are due at the end of the month.
  8. If your interested in Continental phil., chek out the spep website : http://www.spep.org/content.php?_p_=52 Many of the schools listed have MA programs. I am finishing my MA at Boston College this year and applying to PhDs right now. BC has a strong continental program, and if your into euro social theory, you can do that here, although Rasmussen is the head Habermas guy here and he's getting on in years, probably to retire in next 5 years or so... I saw someone replied and said Tufts is a good choice-- it is, but if your into M&L, not continental social thought. Check out the spep link though.
