  1. Thanks, Sarah! Maybe she's on a wait list or something. She got offers super-fast from UNC and UCLA. It's hard waitIng on these last 3. Maybe more so for me, since she really loved UNC.
  2. Is Vandy ever going to tell anybody anything? Still waiting to hear after the January 29-30 weekend, when an answer was predicted to come by February 8. Also waiting on Duke and Columbia.
  3. When did you have your interview at Columbia? Nu1116, I just saw your answer. I think all interviews are over there now then. The last on campus interviews were this past Monday, for a couple who couldn't make the scheduled interview weekends. Wondering how quickly all the final decisions will be made.
  4. Daughter just got accepted into UCLA's GPB Genetics and Genomics Home Area. She interviewed at Duke and Columbia this past weekend. She and another girl were Columbia's last two interviews on Monday, so I guess decisions will be coming soon. (Neither of them could make any of the scheduled interview weekends.)
  5. I'm so glad to hear that you feel so positive about your decision! Nashville is truly a wonderful city, and Vandy is a fabulous school. The beautiful Smoky Mountains are just a short drive away and the Alabama Gulf Coast with beautiful beaches is an easy day's drive away, too.
  6. Daughter just got accepted to UNC Chapel Hill BBSP! Two interviews to go!
  7. Congratulations, everyone! Waiting to hear from Vandy and UNC-Chapel Hill. At UCLA right now.
  8. Nope, not a thing. Wondering if maybe a critical person on the committee was out sick or otherwise unexpectedly unavailable this past Monday? Hoping they get through everything this coming Monday. Waiting is hard!
  9. Lots of ibuprofen. Ice. Get it checked to make sure it's not broken and that there aren't any issues with flying. Make sure y have some heavy coverage foundation to cover any bruising.
  10. I've been watching the survey all day! Later this week, I'll have to start watching for UNC. She's flying out of our airport Wed am to head to UCLA. We're expecting light snow showers tomorrow. I hope it's all over and melted before she starts driving home. We are not used to driving in snowy or icy conditions around here. They're sending her home on a red-eye flight Friday night. That's going to be pretty miserable!
  11. We're hoping they got done today but just didn't have time for emails. If not, I guess we wait for next week!
  12. I know, it's just hard waiting. The adcom meets every Monday and only on Monday. I'm thinking even if they finished the reviews and their decisions today, it may have been late enough that they wouldn't be able to get emails out to all 40 today. They made it a point that they'll let everyone know at the same time instead of letting people know a few at a time over days or weeks. They let people in the first interview weekend know the Monday (2 days) after the interview, but that group didn't have as many candidates as this last weekend. Patience was never my strong suit!
  13. Congratulations! Now you can totally relax and just have fun at all your remaining interviews.
  14. Has anybody heard back yet after Vandy's IGP Jan 28-30 interview weekend? They had 40 students that weekend instead of the usual 20, and warned ahead of time they might not be able to complete their review the Monday after the interview, but that they should be able to get through everything today. Getting a bit anxious with less than 90 minutes left in the business day today.
  15. Any chance you can summarize what this grad student shared with you about her process for choosing which offer to accept?
  16. Thanks, but unfortunately she has not received one yet. She's happy that she did get 5 of 7, though.
  17. Think about the extra work this is causing for the admins, too. Say a program receives 1,000 apps. 500 don't receive invites and decide to call or email asking about their status. Estimate that it takes the admin 5 minutes to respond to each person (read email or listen to phone call, look up name, respond). That's over 40 hours of extra work for that poor admin. Granted, I don't think all 500 are actually inquiring, but for every 12 who do, that's an hour of time that can't be spent on other job duties. So while it may seem to you as if your individual request is no big deal, all the inquiries combined become a large amount of additional work for an admin who is most likely extremely busy working with the students who are coming for interviews in addition to all their other regular job duties.
