  1. It was an update on Quest, the letter was attached to the update
  2. Congratulations!!! I am happy the program is a good fit for your personal life!
  3. They may be upload slowly or going by rolling admissions? Keep refreshing
  4. That's so sweet, thank you so much! I am very happy I persisted and kept at it!
  5. My waterloo status just changed to 'Admit'!!! I got into the program! Time to go check Quest, everyone!!! Good luck to all of you still waiting!!!
  6. LMAO!!! I probably will! Their funding package is too good, I don't think I can turn it down (plus its a great program)! GOOD LUCK WITH WATERLOO! I will demand they give my spot to you *IF* I get in and *IF* you somehow don't, but I am rooting for you!
  7. I hope it works out! I know many people who didn't make it to the two-year MSWs, but were accepted to advanced-standing programs halfway through their HBSW degree! Good luck and let us know how it goes! !
  8. Sorry to hear that, their responsiveness is part of the reason why I chose the school. I would email Sonya or even email the director, Marg McKee, and ask about that. I know I found out I got into the program in April, but I would get to the bottom of this if you can. Good luck, I am sorry you're going through this added stress!
  9. No, I have not still waiting, but it looks like I am going to end up going to York so my spot will most likely open up IF I get in
  10. Advanced Standing programs usually only consider your BSW marks. My GPA from my first degree is what held me back before I got my BSW, so I understand what you mean. The only school that may consider my BComm marks is Waterloo - and I was told that it wouldn't bear much weight on my application. York and Ryerson both said its only my BSW that they consider. If your GPA from you BSW is good, then that is what mostly counts
  11. Also, congrats to all who were accepted to U of T and all of the other programs!!! YAY!!!! And for those of you who didn't make it this year, keep working toward it. As difficult as it is to not take it personally (I sure did my first round of rejections) its just super competitive. It does not mean you aren't strong candidates. Do whatever you can to increase the strength of your application - it will eventually get you into a program, and it will only make you a better practitioner/student when you do finally get into a program.
  12. Call Lakehead campus in Thunder Bay, Sonya is usually there and she almost always answers the phone. That's very strange that it says 'incomplete' Did you finish the online exam and did your references send everything in?
  13. Congratulations!!!! I can understand your predicament, especially if you were offered a position at your place of employment. Would you be able to go to Ryerson and still continue with your position? I would speak to Ryerson and see what they say. My roommate from Lakehead says the MSW at Ryerson is as intense as the one-year HBSW at Lakehead, but I also know some people are better at balancing school and work. But I also know placement is 3 days a week in the second semester, so its not so bad. They may allow you to do you placement at your place of work depending on the circumstance.
  14. I emailed Ryerson yesterday. When I called and spoke to Milene, she told me to email the director as I only have a few days to accept York's offer. The director, Jennifer Poole, emailed me back and let me know the committee decided on rolling acceptances this year. That means they called 15 people yesterday/today and are giving them time to reply, then they are going to call the next 15 in 10 days so this way they know how much funding to offer each successful applicant. They don't want to send everything out at once so this way they can give a concrete funding offer right away. That means if you didn't get a phone call, you still might make the cut, there are 40 spots so 15 doesn't cover all of them. That's awesome!! That must mean you were accepted, congratulations!!!! My classmate is currently in the program and she LOVES it!!
  15. oh no I have been there with the reference situation! I am so sorry, that sucks. Its frustrating how the schools often pin that on the applicant, even if the applicant doe the best they can. At the end of the day, the applicant only has so much control over the references. If they accepted it by now, hopefully it won't hinder your chances. I am rooting for you!
  16. I specifically applied to York because they have great funding so it all depends on your needs. Depending on the school, you can also do a TAship - they pay well and are usually around 10/hours per week. I know the funding at Lakehead for the MSW is contingent on a 10-hour-a-week TAship and it covers tuition costs at the very least. York's funding is contingent on a GAship, which is 5 hours a week in the lab/assisting a professor. Generally, both TA/GA come with benefits. Its worth looking into UNBC and seeing if there are TAships and GAships for you to pursue. That will help you more with your decision.
  17. They won't be calling today, they are meeting right now to make their decisions. They will be calling tomorrow if anything.
  18. Hey I was accepted to York as well! Congrats! Anyone else accepted to York? I actually called Emma and asked her about Tuition, and it comes out to $5400 for the 3 terms ($1800 per term). I was pleasantly surprised at how low tuition is and honestly it made the funding package even more enticing. I don't know about you, but I am so torn now between Ryerson and York. I called Ryerson and asked them about their admissions decisions as well, explaining that I was accepted to York. They told me that they are meeting March 1st and would let those admitted know ASAP, I don't think they expected York to send out admissions decisions so early and require a deposit so soon, at least the is the impression I got on the phone. Good luck to everyone!
  19. I PMed you with a long answer, haha I didn't want to take the focus away from the forum. Also, I really appreciate your comments about my resilience, you're an awesome social worker! Thanks for highlighting my strengths, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy Congrats on U of T! You must be thrilled!!
  20. I second that! Its worth applying outside of Southern Ontario if you can, the schools are great and they seem less competitive. Its so easy to have ups and downs during this process, but staying positive is key. At the end of the day, there are amazing future social workers who don't make it in every year and it doesn't speak to their abilities. A huge part of the process is also sheer luck! keep persisting and you will get there
  21. Your average is solid! I had a 91% average in my BSW and I was just accepted in the first round of offers at York. I think you will be okay, in fact I think it would be silly if they didn't accept you! If you are working now, I would recommend waiting another year before applying to American universities if you can. Tuition will set you back (But I contemplated the same thing at one point! So I know how you feel).
  22. Yeah I second what MSW-UofT said, its a lot more competitive than people think. They have over 500 applicants for both Orillia and Thunder Bay, and Thunder Bay only has 20 people in the class. I think the experience between campuses are quite different so its great to hear about both! I agree, it will get you to your final goal (it did for me!)
