  1. Anyone heard back from Columbia? My friend got an interview and applied in sculpture. Does anyone know if they interview everyone they accept? Anything you know would be helpful. THANKS!
  2. I have been nervous to post things on the forum because part of me doesn't want to know BUT... Here is my list. Anyone hear back from RISD, Columbia, SVA, NYU, MICA? If you got an interview at one of these places do you know if they interview everyone that gets in? THE LIST: Yale- interview Parsons- waitlisted No Word: RISD Columbia SVA Pratt NYU MICA
  3. Little Nova: What department at MICA did you apply for. It seems no one has received a MICA rejection letter yet but some have interviews. Should I give up if I haven't heard yet? Thanks for your help.
  4. If they accept 22 out of 600 how many do they interview?
  5. I just read on Columbia's website that notification goes out late April early May. Is this after an interview process? Also- any word on MICA? I have yet to get a rejection letter or an interview call.
  6. I am also from California and interviewing at Yale. I am confused as to how long we are supposed to stay in New Haven. If interviews are appointment and a one time shot should we be staying overnight near campus for more than one night? I feel like we should be getting some kind of email as to what the goals of the process are but it seems all I have been told is what work to bring. If anyone has any insight on the Yale interview process let me know. Thanks!
  7. If you are looking to Photo AIR programs I highly suggest Lightwork. I interned with them for a summer while in undergrad. The staff is incredible, they pay for your housing in Syracuse New York and give you a stipend. You leave with a publication, a show, and a new or continuing body of work. Check out their deadlines. Good luck.
  8. Thanks for the responses. Daisy: What did you study in undergrad and how did that translate into your MFA program? I think that the hardest part is attempting to explain why a lot of my studio classes were unrelated to the field that I am applying for. My school simply did not offer a lot of the technical training that art schools do. For example our painting department only had two offered courses as compared to many art schools where one would major in that discipline. I realize that writing skills come into play but I wonder when looking to my transcript how I should explain my lack of training in certain fields. Hopefully my LORs will explain this. Should I be playing the LibArts card while writing about why I want an MFA?
  9. I chose to go to a competitive liberal arts school for undergrad instead of an art school. After graduating with a BA in studio art instead of a BFA I wonder how much this will weaken my grad school apps. How common is it for non art school students to apply to MFA programs? How much did I shoot myself in the foot five years ago?
  10. As someone coming from a Liberal Arts undergrad education....do you think I have a shot? How much is going to art school mean when applying MFA programs that are this selective?
