Just got into my top choice for social work, and it's a pretty prestigious program. The only thing is, it's very expensive. I haven't heard from the other four programs I've applied to yet, but they are MUCH cheaper. How much do you think I should let cost be a factor in my decision?

I'm in the middle of submitting my apps (deadlines are 1/15, 2/1 and 3/1). I have not even started to look into financial aid, and I'm pretty confused as to where to begin. I know I need to fill out the FAFSA forms, but where do I go from there? Just by looking at some posts here it seems that may scholarship deadlines have passed, so does that mean I'm too late for the 2010-2011 school year? Thanks!

I've re-drafted it. Kinda different... thoughts? I’ve been following the same Thursday night routine for the past five years: I walk out of my office located in one of the nicest neighborhoods in (X), ride the bus 30 minutes across the city, and walk into a public charter high school located in one of the most neglected neighborhoods in (X). It was this volunteer opportunity that refocused my studies in sociology and psychology on my long-standing interest in working with urban youth. Throughout the time that I have worked with disadvantaged students, I have learned firsthand about their lives and the challenges that they face. A recent school site visit I conducted for a research project focused my interest toward working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.

Intersting... how do you incorporate the notes from your performance reviews? We have a pretty extensive review system where I work now, and I could see using some of those quotes.

I received a Bachelor’s degree in dual majors, psychology and sociology, with the intent of working in the field of forensic psychology. However, during my junior year, a volunteer experience renewed my interest in working with urban youth. I am starting to work on my resume, which hasn't really been updated since I was job-searching almost four years ago. I do have one that I use internally at work, and we use them for proposals but it's pretty specific and I don't think it'll work universally. I have a good grasp of what a resume should look like for job searching, but anything I should include/avoid for writing this specific to grad programs?

Hello- I am currently applying to four programs. One of the programs requested four LORs, while the other three need only three LORs. When I asked people for letters, I told all of them the four programs, but now I am concerned that I might be penalized by the three programs who do not require four LORs. Should I do anything?

For those of you applying to social work programs, I'm curious to hear how many programs you are applying to. I started off with three, now it's quickly moving to four or five programs that I am interested in.

Hi everyone- I'm currently applying to a few MSW programs, and I'm wondering if I should contact and/or meet with any of the professors in the programs. I know a lot of people who are applying to PhD programs do this, but wasn't sure how common it is for those applying to MSW programs. Has anyone contacted professors from programs in which they are interested?
