  1. Hi Everyone. here is Angela's response... Hello, I am responding to your message. This year, admission offer letters for the two-year MSW Program will be sent out from mid-March to mid-April. As decisions are mailed out, your status on the On-line application will be changed to Decision Made. By mid-April all MSW decisions will be sent out. Due to the high volume of applicants, we are not able to respond to messages regarding when a decision will be made on an application. We ask for your continued patience. Best regards, Angela Umbrello Administrative Coordinator, Admissions & Programs Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto
  2. I hear you. I haen't been sleeping well. And I've had a couple admissions dreams. I was so happy when I was waitlisted last year (considering I was rejected from Laurier immediately), but after waiting another year and working so hard getting on the waitlist will be good... because there's still hope... but not as good as getting in Hope everyone can hang in and hear good news! - and find something to de-stress during the process
  3. Lol if it makes you feel better I sent an email yesterday to inquire about it. I'm "that" person. I feel bad doing it, but I thought I might as well get the information and pass it along considering how nervous we all are - plus I haven't bothered her with anything else this session . Kind of wish our power were out here so I couldn't constantly check my status. I'll reply if/when I hear back.
  4. Nope. Haven't heard from Windsor yet - or anywhere I'm wondering if they might send out acceptances and stuff later. It's pretty early this year that we've been hearing back .
  5. Ahh why is it monday already ? Lol I enjoyed the vacation putting thoughts of grad school out of my mind for the weekend... hang in there everyone! I hope everyone hears good news! I envy you blh22. I'm on a computer at work all day. It will be hard not to check mine obsessively
  6. No change in mine either! lol I'm going to go crazy refreshing things now.... very very nervous now.
  7. Ahh the wait is making me so nervous. I'm happy we're supposed to hear earlier from U of T for the 2yr MSW, but I'm scared at the same time. I was waitlisted last year. Really hoping to hear good news this time! Congrats to everyone who've been admitted! And good luck to everyone waiting for a response
  8. I totally hear you ! I'm applying to the 2-year MSW programs so I have a long wait too...and have only a semblance of a plan B. I applied last year and made it onto U of T's Waitlist but never got off. I'm hoping with extra experience I've acquired in the past year and half I'll have a better chance. I think I'm more nervous this year than last year !! :S Sometimes I look back and think, I definitely feel more confident about being able to go to grad school, and then other times I'm like pleasee let me in lol.
  9. Hey! I did a college program after my BA as well. It was in Community and Justice services, so also related to social work. I don't think it would decrease your chances at all to getting in. Though the transcripts might not sway the committee becasue it is a college program - I think they would look it as your interest in and committment to getting into this field. You also gained a lot of skills and experience that are very relevant and will be useful in the Master's program. I agree with Nutella14 - this is definitely a good thing
  10. Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask a general question about written statements. York's is a little less structured than U of T's (since they have a question format) and I'm having some difficulty including everything in 500 words, but also developing a "hook" in the intro. I've seen many different examples of letters of intent - some advise you compose a story, make it interesting; others are more to the point, since you have to "wow" the committee in 500 words. Does anyone have any advice on this? lol I've probably written and rewritten my introduction for my York application too many times and now am lost. Hang in there everyone!
  11. Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on the windsor statement of interest question about why you're picking a specific specialty and identifying problems within this particular area. A lot to say in under 400 words For me, I would really like to look into more mental health related health issues. Should my response be more narrowed on what I would like to research? Or just like broader health issues in general? "Explain why you have chosen your area of interest (i.e. child welfare, health, gerontology). Discuss your current understanding of social problems in that area. (Maximum: 400 words)" Good luck to everyone!!
  12. Hey is anyone else having difficulty with the Windsor online application? I keep getting an error message when I try to create an account.
  13. So for anyone who is applying to York's MSW programs (or at least the 2 year MSW), I emailed the school of social work and apparently applications are opening the very END of October.
  14. Hey b39, I've been trying to apply for York too! I tried my second time this week yesterday and the drop down is still only showing Winter 2015. I'm trying to remember when we were able to apply last year. Should be in October, though. Anyone know/remember?
  15. Hey everyone! Thanks Shawna for starting this topic! This past year, it has been great to follow this and previous years' forums when applying. I applied this past year for the two-year MSW programs at York University, Laurier and University of Toronto. I was waitlisted for University of Toronto; however, it looks like I'll be re-applying this year. *fingers crossed* Some more experience I'm hoping I'll be able to get in this time. I would really like to specialize in Mental health. I see a few of you have jobs as research assistants/part of research teams. I was wondering ,if you don't mind me asking, how did you go about seeking out such opportunities? This is something that would greatly interest me and would be great experience.
  16. Hey! Just because it's so late in the game I'm not thinking I'll get off the U of T waitlist this year. I was wondering if anyone's had to re-apply to York University, and how helpful they were with going over your application with you - in terms of what you can do better next time/where improvement is required. Thanks! Congrats to everyone who got in this year
  17. Hey I have a question about OSAP and making it in off the wait-list. The OSAP site says that even before you are accepted into a program you can apply for OSAP, in the case that you are accepted later (or for whatever reason). I've set that up and everything, but now I've received the documentation that I have to send to the school's financial office. Has anyone applied for OSAP before knowing if they've made it into a program? Are we actually able to send these documents to the financial office? Or how does this work. I just want to be prepared with OSAP in the off chance that I make it off U of T's waitlist. Thanks!
  18. Congrats to everyone who got in ! I'm currently still on the waitlist for U of T's 2 year MSW and I've kind of given up for this year - but reapplying in the fall. I was just wondering if anyone in here, who didn't make it their first try either, had any advice on reapplying and getting ready for the next set of applications. I've tried to contact York to see what I could have done better/differently to enhance my application - but from what I've read, it might be too early to do that?
  19. Hey, I just spoke to Angela about the 2-year MSW program. She said everyone who has been accepted off the waitlist thus far has been contacted already, but said it's an ongoing process. Good luck to everyone! I hope some spots open up for us. I've already kind of given up hope and am wishing it was time to apply again.
  20. Is there anyone who's still waiting to hear back from York at all? My "myfile" is still saying "no decision yet".
  21. Hey everyone New here. I love that this forum exists - it's been so helpful and informative to read all the comments on here. I've been waitlisted for University of Toronto (eep so close), rejected from Laurier and I'm still waiting to hear back from York. I hear they're notoriously late compared to everyone else, but I see some people have heard back from York. Is it a bad sign I haven't? Lol I check myfile probably every hour now anxiously waiting for something.
