So far, Wayne State seems really organized. They have replied to my emails really quick and the staff seems nice. The information session was helpful and some of the current graduate students talk to you and you can ask them questions. They all really seem to like it as well! I am most excited about the clinical experiences that this program offers.
As far as the area, the building that most of our classes is in is wedged in between the Detroit Institute of Art (museum) and the Michigan science center. So the area is pretty populated but as always just be aware of your surroundings.
I've lived in the metro Detroit area my whole life and some suggestions on good places to live would be Royal Oak or Ferndale! Both are highly populated with young people, both have interesting restaurants and bars, and they're safe and not insanely priced. Royal oak is about 15 or 20 minutes away from campus so not a far drive at all.
Hope this helps!
