  1. Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone on here is currently in CSUN's distance master's program or has completed it. I have a few questions and would like to get in contact with someone that has been through the process. Thanks!
  2. Admissions are rolling meaning that you can still apply now but it will probably be for winter 2017 and so on depending on when you apply. Hope that helps.
  3. I'm having trouble finding the FB group. Do you just type it in the search? It's not coming up..
  4. I was accepted too! I pan on accepting the offer! I still can't believe it!
  5. Hi guys, I am applying to the Fall 2016 and currently studying for the GRE. I was just wondering-when is the latest I should take the GRE with application deadlines that are in January 2016? Is late November going to give me enough time to send them into the schools I'm applying for? TIA
  6. I'm finishing up at Chapman and would be happy to answer any of your questions. If you get a B- or under it is correct that you are kicked out of the program. It is fast paced but it's definitely a benefit to get all the prereqs you need done in 10 months. And I am currently working full-time and feel that it is manageable (difficult but not as bad as I anticipated). Also, I like that it is a small cohort that you stay with the whole program and the faculty really walks you through the process. You are guaranteed classes which is nice. Also, as far as Chapman accepting their own students into the Master's program-in my cohort of about 30 students, I think about 5 students were accepted (and a lot of students in my cohort didn't even apply to Chapman and are taking a year off). So I do believe they give some preference to their own students if you do a good job and get recommendations from the faculty. I also think another benefit of Chapman is that you are offered the opportunity to take two extra classes at the end of the program and become licensed as a SLPA which is something to think about. Let me know if I can help with anything else and feel free to PM me! Good luck guys
  7. Still waiting too.. Do we know if they send out notifications via email or snail mail?
  8. Thank you for the information! Do you know how many spots there are available this year?
  9. Wow that was so unbelievably helpful! Thank you so much Demjc24 and good luck with your second semester!!
  10. Hi Demjc24! Thank you for the information! I am thinking about applying there but am concerned about the clinical placements. Can you tell me about how that works? The advisor told me we are responsible for coming up with a list of hospitals that we can do our clinicals at and the school will call the hospitals for us. However, I live in Los Angeles and she said sometimes it can be hard to find placements in these busy areas. It makes me nervous considering I know the lack of clinical placements is one of the reasons there is a shortage of masters programs in speech right?
  11. Congratulations!! So happy for you and that is a great school!!
  12. Hi guys, I'm looking into some online/distance options and I ran into a concern. For online master's programs that do not have readily available clinical placements in your area, how are you supposed to find the placements? I contacted Eastern New Mexico and they said students are responsible for coming up with a list of medical/school sites with licensed SLP's that they would contact for us in order to find a placement for us. However, she stated this can sometimes be problematic in highly populated places (like Los Angeles where I live). So my question is; does anyone have any experience with this, or know how difficult it would be to find somewhere to agree to help me get clinical hours? This kind of scared me and is making me question whether online schools would be a good idea.
  13. Wow thanks you guys! This really warms my heart to hear all of your support and encouraging words. This is such an amazing forum! I plan on becoming a SLPA and finishing my Post Bacc while I wait (and I will definitely look into some spring schools). Good luck to everyone else's applications you all deserve to get into the school of your dreams! P.s. mic1011 I haven't actually heard from CSUN yet but I've given up on them as I don't believe they look at the last 60 units GPA which makes me significantly less competitive.
  14. I am looking into some online programs now..next year I may have to apply to schools out of state. Thanks for your advice and kind words!
