  1. Congrats on UBC. I also received an email from UBC.
  2. I have a background in arts and science (McGill). My dream school is Oxford, followed by LSHTM->UBC->McGill->UWO->Alberta->Toronto. Congratulations on your offer from the University of Saskatchewan!
  3. Most deadlines have passed so emails/letters should start to arrive shortly ! Background: My academic background is not in public health but I've had a lot of hands-on experience and hope to pursue a PhD in Public Health. I have completed ~6 RAships in health, worked overseas on health projects in developing countries for well-known organizations, and (sadly ) turned down a great position with MSF to wait out these results. I applied to the PhD and/or MPH programs at Oxford, LSHTM, McGill, UBC, Alberta UofT, UWO. I've received unofficial acceptances from a few schools but I am waiting for "the letter"!
  4. Which country?
  5. I agree; great funding from Alberta! Congrats. How were you able to secure $15,000? Is it from Oxford? Just contact them if you'd like to know when you can expect to hear from them. That's what I did. Good luck!
  6. I also received an email like that (minus the part about the qualifying exam). Was happy to receive it but I will be even happier once I have the official letter in my hand
  7. Thanks. I am Tokyo and we are monitoring the news reports about the nuclear meltdown at the moment...
  8. It depends on the internship and what you hope to get out of it. My former classmate completed an unpaid internship at CNN (Anderson Cooper 360) a few years back and found it useful because he developed a good working relationship with Anderson who in turn offered to help him find employment in his area of interest. So, what are you hoping to get out of this? Do you want to further your skills, transition from intern to fulltime employee at the company, or both? Unpaid internships are worth it if you have clear end-goals in mind.
