  1. I got accepted to Northeastern. Rejected by Northwestern, and the Social Work program at Univ. of Chicago and the Joint Doctoral Program (Social Work and Psychology) at the Univ. of Michigan. I was working on resigning myself to being rejected everywhere, so this is welcome news, to say the least.
  2. Ah, but my life is already in progress (out of undergrad 10 years). So what I'm waiting for, really, is "does your entire life change radically?" If I'm rejected everywhere, then I can just keep on keeping on with what I'm doing. Which, in a way, is nice because there's no pressure. But in a way, it feels extra-excruciating, because it's a choice between no-change and radical-change.
  3. I've done 5 of 6, and hope/plan on getting 6 (Northeastern) done by Sunday.
  4. I'm 34, been out of school for 10 years. I'm currently working as a user experience researcher, so I have current research experience, but not academic. I have two undergrad degrees, one in Psychology and one in Humanities & Social Thought. Undergrad gpa: 3.4 (Psych gpa: 3.75). GREs: 701V/530Q/6.0writing. I was also on a research team as a psych undergrad, and presented at an APS conference back then, too. I'm applying to both Social Work and Sociology programs. Sociology: Northwestern, Northeastern, and NYU. Also Social Work at Michigan (Social Work + Psychology), University of Chicago, and University of Texas (Social Work and LBJ Public Policy). My research interest is the experience of domestic violence abusers, and how to develop intervention and prevention protocols for them. On a broader scale, violence in general. It's a very specific interest, which I hope isn't a detriment to my apps! I really don't have a great sense of what my chances are (maybe nobody does), but worst case scenario, I have a job now, so... I'm also a self defense instructor, which is part of where my interest in d.v. comes from. Oh, and I'm Amy. Hi!
