  1. I'm not sure about Imposter Syndrome, but now that I've gotten into a program I'm really excited about, I've been surprised to find myself questioning (on occasion) whether I actually want to spend the next five years of my life studying political science/whether I can handle it/whether I'll hate it. I'm sure it's just due to it being that awkward last undergrad semester where I'm feeling nostalgic for the school where I currently am, friends, and so on. I know I'm still at least as excited about what lies ahead, including the chance to tackle the coursework. Once the summer hits and the planning starts, I think the excitement will only increase. We'll see!
  2. Wow, I can imagine. I can't believe they started making decisions at the end of January and still haven't finished the process. But at least you're still in the running. Good luck!
  3. That was my assumption as well. I've heard nothing but good things about him and I enjoyed meeting him in the fall.
  4. Rutgers-New Brunswick for me as well. Ditto what curiousgeorge84 said about academic approach and adviser!
  5. I've been away from these boards for a few days, but it seems an awful lot went on during that time. I don't want to dig up what seems to be a settled discussion, but cpaige/rossiya, etc. has always been one of my favorite posters. She's been nothing but courteous, thoughtful, and helpful. I didn't follow the PSJR situation that closely, but nothing warrants such awful behavior and efforts to ruin someone's future, whether it was already present or not. I'm glad she has a choice between programs at two fantastic schools; I don't have any offers from an Ivy or top-20, and I'm not jealous at all. Maybe she was a bit over-eager, but who among us wouldn't be given the situation? Anyway, what a sad turn of events.
  6. Also going to Rutgers for Political Science (as you know, curiousgeorge84). Really looking forward to it!
  7. That's also what I heard when I visited. Overall, I really like their program and I'm looking forward to going in the fall!
  8. Well, you won't be by yourself at Rutgers. I'm definitely going. I'll send the official notification back once we dig out of the major snowstorm we just had and the USPS gets running again. I still haven't heard about funding, though.
  9. No, I haven't gotten any funding info yet. Not sure they've accepted everyone yet that they're going to (I expected to maybe see a few more accepts on the Results page) so maybe they're still sorting out funding. Rest assured that once I know that I won't have to live in my car in order to go there, I will definitely accept!
  10. Wow, congrats to the Harvard admits. (SuddenlyParanoid, my hat is off to you in a big way!) I hope that more Harvard applicants get some good news soon. Don't lose hope! To those who are staring at a lot of rejections, I hope you get some good news. It was looking for a while like I'd be in that boat as well. I'm well aware of how damn lucky I am to have picked a program to get excited about that also happened to be looking for people who study what I study. Throughout this process I've been thinking of Dr. Seuss' story "Oh, the Places You'll Go." You'll do great! Except when things fall through. That sort of thing. If you don't get in anywhere, I'm sure you'll find something, at least for the next year if you plan to re-apply, that proves a good use of your enormous talent.
  11. I'm a comparativist with a Middle East focus. (I'm also interested in democratization, Islamist groups, and international terrorism). So it looks like we have three of us so far (amandaaimeparis as well) on TheGradCafe who will be in the incoming cohort. Cool! I guess that was your January acceptance on the Results page? I'm guessing since you got in almost a month before the rest of the admits you were the department's nominee for the University Fellowship? (Not sure if you were told, or want to say if you were.) Either way, that's quite an achievement. Looking forward to meeting you!
  12. Yep! I'm from Scranton, actually. Well, originally from closer to Wilkes-Barre, but I go to the University of Scranton now. (Now that I'm pretty sure where I'm going next fall, I could care less about anonymity, haha.) It's always nice to meet another "hayna."
  13. Thanks! It definitely does feel nice to have gotten in somewhere, and at my top choice no less. I'm so excited to work with their department. I agree, patience is key. If I can get in, I can't imagine everyone else not getting into a great school.
  14. I hope you get good news as well. Has your status changed on the website?
  15. I'm in at Rutgers! Their website updated tonight. Finally, after two rejections this week, I know I'm going to grad school!
  16. I just got a letter that I was rejected from BC's PhD program and accepted into their MA program. It's definitely going to be an option; I'm still optimistic about Rutgers' PhD program and maybe George Mason. We'll find out soon!
  17. Also got a rejection. I'm 0/1.
  18. Mine also says nothing about a letter. I'm nowhere near assuming I'm one of the lucky few, but I am hoping that by Friday I know where I stand.
  19. The only thing I can tell you is that last week I was told they'd be done in a week to ten days. (So, I'm assuming, by the end of this week.) My online status page also hasn't changed, except they added that they need my final bachelor's transcript. From what others have said though, I don't think that means anything.
  20. Same here. Comparativist, and I've heard nothing back from Syracuse or any school. Maybe this will be the week we get some good news?
  21. It does seem to be. I was hoping Syracuse might finish today the notifications they started on Friday, but maybe not.
  22. Will anyone claim the Rutgers admit from late January that just went up on the Results page?
  23. Looks like this will be the week I finally start hearing back. I can't imagine Syracuse taking a week to finish notifying, BC said they'd probably be done by the end of the week, and Rutgers historically notifies around now. Curufinwe, we'll see whether I wish at the end of the week that it had been calm for me, too!
  24. Comparative (Middle East, democratization focus). It's interesting that both results postings were by international applicants. Barring, of course, that the results were not real, maybe they notified international applicants first?
