  1. I had couple research co-ops with the Naval Research and also did some researches at school with a profs. These work yield some publications to good conferences in my field Oh do you have a Google account? I created this Calendar that contains deadlines to grad school & fellowships which hopefully be beneficial to others. If you have a Google account you can also edit it, add deadlines etc to it. https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?s ... e8e7075057
  2. My academic status is not very impressive comparing to most others, my GPA is around PI from a pretty small campus. I haven't taken the GRE yet, scheduled it for late Sept. I will apply to about 10+ schools although I am not very sure which yet, CMU is on that list. I am counting big time on my research experiences here. Interested Fellowships ... all that are avail such as NSF, NDSEG, HERTZ, etc I am looking for programs in Evolutionary Computing (which is quite new and not supported by many univ's).
  3. I plan to make a public calendar that contains deadlines , important dates etc for both universities and fellowships. I'll make it editable by everyone, do you think you would be interest in something as such ?
  4. I am applying for Ph.D in Comp Sci Fall 2007 and looking forward to the fellowships. Anyone else ? Please try to keep each other posted on your progress as we all share the same situation
  5. I think you have a great advantage having physics background. I am a Comp Sci major and yet I found most research based projects I've done involved physics in one way or another. So far you, Othello and I seem to be the only three planning to apply for grad school and fellowships in 2007. Please keep us posted on your progress (I'll do the same )
  6. I am applying for Ph.D in Comp Sci Fall 2007 and looking forward to the fellowships also.
  7. Anyone preparing for application in 2007 ? I am applying to a Comp Sci Ph.D program, I am in a dilema. I am a M.S student from a quite small campus of Penn State, my GPA is not too great, around 3.3 especially I had a C in one of the core classes. I haven't taken GRE, but around 700v 450v and 4a based on practices. In mid 2004 I did research at a well-known govn't lab, and it's here that I decided to pursue higher degree. The first time I was there I had 2 publications, eversinced I got 4.0 GPA at school (but these are easy courses as I am done with the core ones) and 2 publications with advisor (one is a journal) .. then I returned back to the lab and within 6 months I had 6 more publications. All are in well known conferences , however only 1 is in C.S conferences, the rest are in Math and physics. In addition, I only can get 2 good LOR's ... I stick with a few whom I work well with (8 publications was with one person). I can't be sure if my research experience meets top schools' expectations and in doubt if lower ranked ones will be tolerant of my poor academic perf (which is degraded further due to small school background).
