  1. Yeah that's what I've tried, but haven't found anything. I'm also aware of that (the GRE being just a small part of the application), but I don't want to be rejected at first because of the scores.
  2. Hi. I want to apply to MAPSS at Chicago, MA in Sociology at Columbia or MS in Applied Urban Studies at NYU. Do you think these scores are enough for me to be considered?
  3. Uhmmm, I didn't mean Berkeley, I meant NYU (MS in Applied Urban Studies).
  4. Hi everyone. I've just taken the GRE two days ago, and my scores were 161V and 161Q. I was disappointed by my quantitative score as I was expecting something around 163-167, but I didn't expect something above 159 on verbal (I'm from Mexico). I'm thinking on retaking the test because of my quant score, but I'm not sure about it. I want to apply to MAPSS at Chicago, or MA in Sociology at Columbia or Berkeley as my top options. Do you think my scores are gonna be good enough to be considered for those programs? I know that the GRE is just a very small part of the whole application and that it acts more like a filtering mechanism, but I wanna make sure to pass through that filter. Thanks.
  5. PP1: V152 Q166 PP2: V157 Q164 GRE: V161 Q161 I think I got a bit lucky on verbal, but I am so dissapointed of my quantitave score. I was expecting something around 163-167. Seriously thinking of retaking it.
  6. Hi. I'm new here, but I wanted to ask a question about the average GRE scores needed in order to have a shot at MAPSS. I've just taken the GRE, and I got 161V & 161Q (p87 & p81, respectively). I haven't found so much information about this, and I don't know if those scores are gonna be enough. I suppose verbal may be, but not so sure about math. I've considered taking the GRE again because I felt that I could have done so much better at quantitative (averaged around 163 and 166 in practice exams), but at the risk of affecting my verbal score. So what would be your advice?
  7. Haha thanks. Actually it was meant to be "Not doing so good on verbal", didn't notice the missing "so".
  8. Hi. I'll be taking the GRE on June 5th (a week from today). I just finished one of the practice tests that ETS provides for test takers and my scores were 152V and 166Q. I'm from Mexico, and I've studied both math and verbal for like 2 months. I've taken other practice tests like the Manhattan ones and my score on verbal seems to vary between 151 and 157. I've heard from some of my Mexican friends who are already in grad school (at Cornell, Chicago, Columbia...) that I should not worry that much about verbal score, that something around 155-158 should be enough for international students as long as you do well on math. Of course I'll still try to improve and do my best on the verbal section, but I wanted to ask if anybody knows how true is this, because I was getting pretty worried and considered rescheduling my test date. Thanks.
