  1. Hi there! I'm starting at John Jay in the fall. I would be more than happy to answer any questions. Your sister can email me at catrin82@msn.com. Unfortunately, they only admit 10 applicants now. I hope I can help. Catrin
  2. Hi Harlem, Sure I can share my stats. I don't know exactly what you want to know but here's some: GRE V: 440 GRE Q: 620 GRE A: 5 Combined degree BA/MA Forensic Psych, GPA: 3.9 MA CJ: 3.9 (both from John Jay) Let me know if there's anything else I can help with. Good Luck!
  3. Hi all, I hope everyone is alive and well after this tumultuous experience. I decided on John Jay and I'm happy I did. I'm curious to find out where everyone's going in the Fall.
  4. Thanks. I emailed them a number of times since last fall and they never responded, so it doesn't really matter. I was just curious. Where else did you apply?
  5. I don't know if anyone else applied to Rutgers, but has anyone heard anything from them?
  6. Thank goodness. I'm sorry for whoever it was, but I thought it was you--so relief. You're still in the running!
  7. I know the feeling. I've been slightly crazy lately. Don't give up--they're still reviewing!
  8. Was that your Irvine post in the results section?
  9. It has a pretty low ranking but that doesn't really concern me. It's pretty heavy on policy and the practical perspective. They have open house March 16, so I'll probably go to D.C. then to check it. I think MSU is my top choice right now, but I'll probably visit the other schools too. So did you hear back from the MA programs?
  10. I did. The program is called Justice, Law and Crime Policy (but has changed to Criminology, Law and something), so it probably didn't come up if you searched for the usual suspects (CJ or criminology).
  11. I was accepted to the program at George Mason University yesterday, so that's good news, actually. Time to update results: Applied: John Jay-Graduate Center, SUNY, Northeastern, MSU, UC-Irvine, George Mason, American, Delaware, UI-Chicago, Rutgers, Penn State, Simon Frasier, U of Ottawa, North Dakota State, Maryland Rejected: Maryland, Penn State, SUNY Accepted: Irvine, MSU, UI-Chicago, George Mason Interview: John Jay
  12. Congratulations to the person who got in at John Jay! (Yes, I wish it were me.
  13. Juror#1, if you have any questions about John Jay, the program (I have many friends in both the experimental and clinical track) or NYC, please let me know. Email me at catrin82@msn.com if you need help. Good luck!
  14. Ah, that's so sweet of you. I hope so! Any words yet from Irvine?
  15. I know of Raghavan and Salfati well since my MA is in forensic psych. My very good friend has worked with Raghavan for a number of years and she's a very supportive and great advisor. Salfati I will not mention here, but a word of caution: Everyone wants to work on topics related to serial murder and thus with Salfati and Schlesinger. If you get an interview, I would not mention her name. Please let me know if you have other questions about john jay or faculty. My interests are kind of all over the place as well, but I try to focus on crime and the community (place), crime (especially violence) and gender, and research methods. I'm interested in most topics, which can be a problem some times. Best of luck!
  16. Thanks, littlegirlvik! Wouldn't it be great if we both got in? I wish you the same, whatever your top choice will be.
  17. Yeah, I'm really hoping for John Jay. I can't wait to hear from them.
