  1. I emailed SUNY today and they told me I wasn't among the accepted. Letters will be mailed out soon. Good luck to the rest of you, again!
  2. Congratulations, arna! I hope you get accepted as well!
  3. Congratulations on being waitlisted! I think that's a great achievement, especially since so few have been accepted/waitlisted. Good luck! I hope you get in!
  4. Nothing has changed since last time I posted this...unfortunately. Right now, my top choice would be CUNY. I saw someone got accepted to SUNY a couple of days ago, but hopefully it's not over yet. Who do you want to work with at CUNY (if you want to post it here)? Applied: Maryland, SUNY, Penn State, CUNY- Graduate Center, UC-Irvine, MSU, Simon Frasier, UI-Chicago, Northeastern, University of Ottawa, Rutgers, American, University of Delaware, North Dakota State, George Mason Rejected: Maryland Accepted: UC-Irvine, MSU, UI-Chicago Interview: CUNY
  5. Thanks! From what I understand, CUNY does more than one round of interviews, but I could be wrong. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Maryland is awesome. It's the number one program! That's pretty impressive, I must say.
  6. Fellow criminology/CJ applicants, I found an article while looking for literature for a paper. It outlines the different programs in the US and Canada, admissions process, doctoral students and faculty etc. Maybe others have read it already, but it seems really interesting in terms of admissions stats and so on, although somewhat dated. Here's the citation: Frost, Natasha, A. and Clear, Todd. R. (2007). Doctoral Education in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Journal of Criminal Justice Education, 18(1), 35-52. Enjoy!
  7. highanxiety, I'm completely with you. I'm starting to doubt my very existence!
  8. Who got in to Maryland? I just saw the post. Congratulations!
  9. Hi! I have heard otherwise about the job market in this field. In fact, one of the reasons I changed focus from psychology to criminal justice is the abundance of jobs, at least after a doctoral degree. In any case, I want to be in Academia probably. So much can change in a few years, but that is my current plan.
  10. I'm sure you did great! How long did you speak for? When did they tell you decisions would be made? I was told in a few weeks, which sound too long. I wonder how many people they interview... Btw, I spoke with a grad student today and he said the stipend is pretty ok, in terms of living here. I would basically be happy to not live on loans, so I would take whatever I can. Also, he really loves the program, and I think I do, too. Now, it's back to waiting.
  11. littlegirlvik, how did the interview go? I just came back from mine. It was great! I really like the program.
  12. Hey, absolutely. You can email me at catrin82@msn.com if you don't want to post them here.

  13. I'm also waiting on SUNY....I was rejected from Maryland, so you still have a shot. Well, here's the list: Applied: Maryland, SUNY, Penn State, CUNY- Graduate Center, UC-Irvine, MSU, Simon Frasier, UI-Chicago, Northeastern, University of Ottawa, Rutgers, American, University of Delaware, North Dakota State, George Mason Rejected: Maryland Accepted: UC-Irvine, MSU, UI-Chicago Interview: CUNY
  14. Thanks! That's really helpful. I might think of more questions. I'm at John Jay right now, in the MA program. I really like it here...so if you have questions about NYC or the program, please let me know. I have an interview tomorrow too! Are you nervous? My schools are in the other thread. Thanks again!
  15. littlegirlvik, that was a great suggestion. I'm glad they added this folder. On another note, I see your undergrad institution is MSU. How is MSU, and more importantly the criminal justice department? Thanks!
  16. Yeah, I got an acceptance at UCI on Feb 12. Good luck!
  17. I'm currently in the MA program in CJ at John Jay. I have applied to 15 PhD programs in criminology/criminal justice. I'm hoping for the best...Nice to see other criminology applicants here.
