Spaced Out

A friend of mine who attended CCA in 2000-2002 and lived in SF for a little bit said that SFAI is in serious financial trouble right now because the head of the school got in trouble for money laundering or something. I dont know anything beyond that, I havent fact checked any of this because I didnt apply there

yeah I heard from them today. they said packet should come this week with scholarship info and loan stuff. I doubt the time they contacted you has much significance.

I havent heard anything about flights being covered and my guess is that they are NOT. But the hotel is news to me

Congrats on U madison! Looks like we applied to many of the same programs. I too was accepted to Madison and am waiting to hear if I will get a TA position. Im getting nervous that deadlines will come before some schools have even got back to me IE. VCU, HUNTER, RISD, PRATT

I got accepted to CCA for MFA Painting but have yet to recive an official letter. I have found communication to be somewhat difficult with them. I was having trouble logging on to the web advisor thing so I sent an email and it took around a week for someone to get back to me. I still cant get on it and notified them but have received no response. I am also relly unsure about the whole funding thing..am I going to get some help or are they just stringing me along? Im excited about this school but just a bit frustrated with the communication

Hey so I tried to log in to this site but had trouble, sent them an email about-hopefully figure something out. My question is whether or not anyone has given you any information about funding(fellowships, grants, TA positions etc)?

I want to say he said there were something like 40 spots maybe but I cant remember. Honestly I was about to email them today because it had been so long since I heard from them post interview. I dont know if they interview everyone, it might say something about it on their website. Sorry I cant be of more help. Also at this point I have no clue about funding yet..which is pretty important

Your not alone, Im right there with you. I feel very crazy. I have even been accepted to one school but Im questioning now how bad I want to go there, or anywhere for that matter. This is is stupid since I have put so much time, money and energy into the the process. Yup I am very irrational, and to be honest I dont think looking at this forum 18 times a day is doing anything to help my neurosis.

Still nothing from SAIC, this sucks! If Im rejected I just want to know so I can go on with my life and focus all my anxiety on the other 4 schools Im waiting on

I'm picking up what your laying down. I struggled with my final decision of what schools to apply to. I applied to Hunter and Pratt and almost Columbia but didnt because it just wasnt calling to me. The idea of living in NYC is so romanticized for me. I know a lot of people out there but what you said about the affordability of the city is something that has always been in the back of my mind and it scares me to think that with all the stress of going to school that I will have the stress of surviving in the city as well. In the end I NEEEED my school paid for. No more debt...at least from college.

Look at the faculty work and student work and even work from past MFA students. I feel this is the best route to take. I will not deny that the status of some schools played a part in my decision but I didnt apply to any schools in the end that I was unsure about. This of course is based on what I could fins online and talking with friends and former classmates. I struggled with a huge list when I started out but as I went on I just trusted my gut. I want to go to a school that wants me for me, not for the person I think they want me to be...if that makes any sense. Hope this helps...
