  1. This bothers me. There's a good chance you will have two interviews on the same weekend and if you blow one off there is no guarantee either will accept you for attending. Hence, you may blow off the one that actually wants you, and you attend the one that has zero intention of actually recruit you. This is absolute shit, and not fair if you ask me.
  2. Thank you and congrats. I would be disappointed to not hear from them since I was emailed 20 fliers from them and have a great research fit. Fingers crossed .
  3. Did you get it through email or did you check the application message dropbox?
  4. You are in a catch-22 situation. If you are honest, there is a good chance it will negatively affect you, and if you omit the information and they find out it's probably automatic termination. If we are going by academic honesty and integrity, than you can put it in your app. They may even think you are a better person now because of it, who knows? Or, it will hurt you for trust reasons. I don't know it's hard. I wish I could give more insight, but I think go with your instinct on this.
  5. I wouldn't mention this stuff or you are screwed. Grad school is so much about academic honesty, and this won't help your case.
  6. I am not sure what you even did wrong based on your story. You couldn't find the answers so you asked for help and couldn't figure it out. Next, you switched two data samples on your assignment and you get zero points. This is where I lose your story. You say your TA tells the prof about this and you get punished by the school? I have no clue how doing an assignment incorrectly or asking for help can get you in trouble unless you are cheating with it. Chegg and yahoo are options for homework so how is Facebook unacceptable? Your story doesn't fully explain the situation. I Can't give advice because I still don't understand what it is you actually did to get probation.
  7. I doubt that any committee would hold a misspelled name against anyone. They have hundreds of applicants to go through, and probably don't even know your name to begin with unless your name keeps coming up in discussions. Hopefully everyone on this thread has some good news from their schools before the holidays. I'll admit, I've never been in a situation where I don't know where I'll be living or doing in the next year and its screwing with my mind. But life has a way of working itself out, we are all freaking out for nothing most likely.
  8. I posted earlier with a very similar background. I was advised to apply to many places. I hope you get in one of your choices. The GRE was hell for me, and I ran out of time on the questions. The programs I applied to said not to worry about them. I have a good gpa, research exp, and a 2nd author publication and I hope to Moses that one school accepts me. This may also the situation your in. I think you should apply to a few more just in case, but that's up to you. Good luck.
  9. None of my research is psychological and none of the programs are either. I'm applying to molecular neuroscience programs. For every single program I applied to, I would contact my poi there or admissions and ask if my scores were too low. I pretty much only applied to places that gave me the go ahead aside from ucla. A few schools actually said I'd be a competitive applicant and they would like to read my app, hopefully they weren't lying. I am also enrolled for biochem while I wait on decisions. I am pretty worried about my gre's though. I hope my genetic research, publication, and gpa will help me. At OHSU, I applied to the neuro grad program. Not sure what else to do.
  10. I was just wondering if any seasoned posters could evaluate my school choices from page 16 like you guys are doing for the last few posters. I'd greatly appreciate that. Thank you.
  11. Thank you guys. Are the schools I chose appropriate based on my credentials? I did research on them and from what I learned about them I should be ok as my research matches. I am praying for an acceptance letter. I retook the gre and studied all summer and got the same verbal and quant. I just run outta time on each section and ended up omiting many answers.
  12. Any advice for my credentials? It was on page 16. It would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Oh wow, that's interesting. Well, I did graduate in May this year. Howerever, I am still going back for biochem and doing research. I indicated I'd be doing that in my SOP.
