  1. A web-page definitely gives more info about your work without the need to open large or cumbersome (multiple) PDF or Doc files as email attachments..So, this is a good idea indeed..and..I did this for my applications.. Regarding the snapshots, I believe its ok... as long as you refer them...but its always better to put snapshots of your own results, graphs, experimental setup...and discuss results from other papers (if u think its necessary..and can avoid the details)...My personal belief is that the faculty doesn't have enough time to go through all the content in detail...as they are busy most of the time..So, make it simple..with all the relevant information and publications if any...and present a synopsis of each of your work (or the title of the publications)..and you can provide links which give the detailed report (or full-length papers)...of your work or project...So, the people who are highly interested can see the details...and others who just want to skim through..can do that....Hope this helps..
  2. Application season is over..But I still feel restless..!!!...No clue why..!!!

I'm also anxious and have little motivation to actually work at my job. I probably spend more time hitting refresh on this site than actually working. I keep hoping time will speed up and July will supersede May & June.

Is it possible to change the name history?. I sent you a message regarding this..hope you got it..

  6. All the responses are really interesting....but, the fact is, there is no right or wrong advice in this case..it all depends on the specific situation, ...their own feelings for each other..( if they care for other stuff like career, criticisms etc..)..or how their peers are...we cant generalize anything based on these individual responses or experiences... However, I noticed that the OP has disappeared (almost 6 months..!!!.)...even though we continue to give her advice..lol.. ...
  7. hey..thanks again for the links..would be helpful for sure....and yeah..i heard similar reservations against MARTA in some of the other threads in gradcafe too...
  8. There is no hard and fast rule but...I guess, the best way is to write to proffs....about a probable internship or visiting scholar opportunity...and if you can fund yourself for that short period..do mention in the email...you can also browse thru their websites regularly to see if similar opportunities have opened up..though its very rare that such internship opportunities will be explicitly announced....another way is to attend conferences / symposiums / workshops and network with them / talk to them about such an opportunity... Good luck..
  9. Hi..Amogh,..in addition to all the above advice..try looking for some international internship opportunities or joining as a visiting scholar..there are many top-notch Asian / European universities wherein you can find relevant research and can be funded even for an internship..if you can afford around couple of months of money, you can even get into some top-notch US labs,,it is not so hard to get in.. for such short term internships if you are ready to fund yourself..you can even do multiple internships..all this might give you better chances for publishing and networking ..(maybe get a recommendation from some of them..)..provided u do good work....and this will increase ur chances of funded admits....hope this helps..
  10. Congrats to all...and add me to the list for Robotics PhD..So, are you all going to join or still waiting / deciding your final destination?
  11. Well...now I am sure that this post counted..and in fact to a great deal.....thanks for such an elaborate reply..it definitely helps..Atlanta seems to be a nice place to live...however, i heard that you need to own a car to really enjoy it...academically, i guess, I cant go wrong with choosing Gatech..the robotics program seems nice..the seminar series, especially, is so cool with all big names coming there to present their work from other universities..could be great for sharing research activities and networking stuff...and also with the flexible course structure...I am highly inclined towards it...lets see.....good luck to u too....
  12. Hi thr..!!!..At last, thr is someone who is considering the same option.....I have been on the lookout for info regarding this for quite sometime now....I have also been admitted to the PhD Robotics program..in Gatech..am considering it seriously...but haven't finalized yet..being an international, I dont have much idea about the place in general..and, I think, u can help me with that...also, though i have pretty much a good idea about the research activities that I might get involved in...but don't have much info on the Robotics program in general..I guess its new (2007..?) and hence, any pointers regarding these would be very helpful..can't trust the website alone.....Thanks in advance..
