Do you know if they are commuting or moving somewhere?!

Is anyone going to Touro College in Brooklyn in the Fall?

Anyone still waiting to hear from LIU Brooklyn?

Same here! Had my interview a month ago and still says "Your application is currently being processed. Please check back again soon." -
Seton Hall--still waiting?
mhny1224 replied to SLP2Bhopefully's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I still haven't heard from them at all either, but I just assume that means they're waiting to see who fills the seats with the first round of acceptances -
I'm still waiting to hear back from a handful of schools in NY/NJ which is where I'm from but I got accepted to Midwestern and loved the program so I'm putting down a deposit and very much considering it, regardless of if I get into one closer to home!! Because I'm from out of state though I wasn't sure where people were planning on living and wanted to start with this forum and see who was going!

Midwestern Programs for 3.3 GPA and Under
mhny1224 replied to brittneyashley's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I got into Midwestern in Downers Grove, IL with a 3.3 GPA and 3.5 CSD GPA. I did take a year off and applied after a year of gaining clinical experience, but if you show interest in their program it's small enough that they highly take that into consideration!! -
Will anyone be attending Midwestern in the fall!?
-
UVA's decisions have been posted on the portal.. unfortunately I didn't get in, but good luck to everyone else!
-
A ton of schools wait to see how many people put down a deposit on April 15th and if they have more seats to fill they accept more
-
I think after April 15th should be when any schools tell their next wave of students of their decision

Anyone still waiting to hear from LIU Brooklyn?
mhny1224 replied to wewers78's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I had an interview with them two weeks ago and called yesterday to follow up--they said the same thing, the 15th will be the determining date and we should hear around the 18th via mail any news. -
I applied there but haven't heard anything yet! Did you get accepted via email? I do not know much about the program, although I did hear a downside is that you have to find your own clinical placements. I feel like this could be incorrect, as it's accredited by ASHA and I would think any program that has been running for a while includes the clinical.. so I would definitely ask them. If this is true, then it definitely is a downside because finding a placement can be competitive, especially when you're competing with students whose programs are doing the searching for them.

has anyone else still not heard anything from UVA? i know it's not necessarily a bad thing not to have heard yet but i'm getting eager
-
I applied to UVA but haven't heard anything yet! Did you guys get an email or did you consistently check your account? My cousin lives in Charlottesville and I've only heard good things--would be so so happy to get in!!

I haven't heard much about the program, but I'll be attending an open house/interview next week so hopefully that will give me a better idea

Northern Arizona University

I applied to NAU for the full-time regular track but haven't heard anything back from them, are they sending out acceptances in waves or should I be concerned? -
Has anyone been to the LIU Brooklyn campus interview yet? If so, what was it like... I wasn't sure if interviews are requirements for all qualified applications or some people were initially accepted without an interview
-
Did Seton Hall lose anyone elses transcripts? They have 1/3 even though I mailed all 3 together... I'm trying to avoid ordering and sending them again and just using my unofficial scanned copies. Not sure if that will work
-
I was just invited to LIU Post for an interview and was wondering if anyone has any advice or remembers any specific questions? Some interviews seem to be interested in what you remember from your courses and others only are interested in personal questions so if you have any suggestions that would be great!

Midwestern University interview
mhny1224 replied to mhny1224's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Thank you!!! If you can elaborate on what "Miss America" questions means that would be great. I really appreciate your response! -
I was wondering if anyone knows what the Midwestern interview is like-- it says it's approximately 6 hours so I know there are informal parts, but any advice would be great!!

I'm not enrolled but I was told by my advisor that she would recommend taking a year off over attending the program at Nova. She finds that the students aren't well prepared for the field, so if the tuition is a lot then my advise would be it's not worth it.

I emailed them because seeing this really concerned me and they said that that's not true! Below is the email--- I was even surprised by those averages, I definitely thought the GRE would be higher! "Our graduate program is made up of students from many different places. Students from the Ithaca College undergraduate SLP major do not make up the majority of our fall 2014 graduate students. Here is information about the average GREs and GPA of our 2014-2015 accepted grad students. Verbal-153 Quantitative-149 Writing-4.0 GPA: 3.7 (3.67)"

In addition to reaching out to the programs you need to be mindful of who you're competing with. New York and other city programs are definitely a lot harder because most people want to be in cities (NYU and Columbia).. If you really want to do speech you have to be willing to sacrifice maybe not being where you want to be for two years. I live right near NYMC and I know that's one of the most competitive programs.. just do your research and find programs that suit your stats, they definitely exist!
