  1. I'm sorry Same here, I was surprised that I got an outright rejection. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  2. Just got a rejection email from them. Ouch. Hope things fared better for you.
  3. BTW, I emailed Tera (to check if she had received my reimbursement paperwork as well), and she said the admissions committee will be sending out their decisions this week. Although knowing this may make waiting actually worse haha.
  4. I have no idea, but I'm in the same boat! Somebody posted on the results that they had been waitlisted via email, but they're the only one to post anything. I'm so anxious
  5. Looks like some people have already been accepted to Northwestern. If they're checking this thread, may I ask what interview weekend you went to?
  6. Thank you for your responses. I was definitely planning on still reading up on their current research, but it's a good point about not wanting to end up somewhere that I don't fit in. I'll be sure to keep an open mind going into the interviews.
  7. So I finally received my itinerary for my interview this week. There are a total of 6 faculty interviews over two days. I know when they sent out the invite, they asked if there were any specific faculty that I wanted to meet with or if I had particular research interests. I listed three (maybe 4?) profs and outlined my interests. Unfortunately, it seems they didn't do the best job matching me or were unable to get the people whose research was a good match. So the question is, for professors whose research really doesn't interest me (like, at all), do I just be honest and straightforward about what I am interested in, or do I try to relate my interests to their lab/act open to their research?
  8. Arg. Extremely jealous of those who got Harvard invites. But congratulations, for sure
  9. Boo, I'm sorry. I hit a new squat PR Fingers crossed for both of us!
  10. Ugh, this. Saw people had heard back from UCSF. Saw nothing in my inbox. Proceeded to use my rage while lifting this morning haha.
  11. Who posted that they were accepted to UCSF on the results page, eh?
  12. Oh gosh, I don't know if I can handle two days of anticipation. I am not a patient person...
  13. Well. This is a depressing thought, haha. In positive news, I just got my first interview offer (Wisconsin)!
  14. Just got my first interview offer at Wisconsin! Pumped that at least one school wants to talk to me
  15. Nah, they didn't really discuss the actual application with me. Just encouraged me to apply to whatever programs they were affiliated with. That's great that he remembered you! Hopefully that gets you some bonus points
  16. I did, and got nearly every type of response you could imagine. Some didn't respond, and others briefly confirmed that they were taking new students, but told me to just apply to the program. One professor was super encouraging, and offered to look over my CV for me. And two others arranged phone calls with me to talk about their research/my grad school plans. We'll see if any of this matter though, haha.
  17. That sucks. Sometimes you just gotta pay to learn a lesson I guess, haha. I emailed the program coordinator and she said I did have some leeway, but to hurry. So I went ahead and submitted my app immediately. Hopefully they still give it fair consideration, but who knows!
  18. And I just realized that I'm a complete moron. I had written down that Columbia's deadline was December 15. Taking my time editing my SOP. Check the application today and find that the deadline was December 3. Fuck.
