  1. I think that for the more competitive programs, they definitely do an interview first with the short-listed candidates. Though with the larger and larger applicant pool with each passing year, I think all schools are starting to do that. I know that it's hard to move on. But life goes on, the years go by, the seasons change, and other things come up that can keep you occupied.
  2. Hello! I think that people on the Forums have heard from Yale, Princeton, Stanford and NYU (ISAW.) I don't think anyone here has heard from Harvard. Can anyone on the Forums verify if they have heard from Harvard or knows someone who has heard from Harvard? In any case, it is safer to give up hope if others have gotten interview offers. However, there are middle grounds like wait lists. That's what I think, anyway.
  3. There are some acceptance and rejection results posted on the search page for UPenn Classics. However, I have not gotten any correspondence from them at all. Has anyone on the Forums received an acceptance or rejection from UPenn? I applied there for their Classical studies program.
  4. Hi All! Sorry I haven't been active lately, I've been really busy. Now that I have received a rejection letter from Stanford, I am turning my attention to other schools. Has anyone heard anything from Harvard or Brown? I think someone posted on the search page that they had an interview from Brown. But I was wondering if anyone has heard from anyone else about Harvard Classics.
  5. Interview offers for U Penn and Brown and Yale and NYU have been reported. WashU has already sent out acceptances. I got a rejection from Stanford. I applied to 12 schools. At that point, I just want one sliver of good news.....
  6. I never had a cat. Always wanted one though! Hope you all are doing well. I'm still hanging in there.....
  7. I tell people, I don't need to exercise because my heart races every time I check my email! But yeah, I'm trying to brace myself for the worst this week.
  8. Oops! Never mind. I just checked my inbox! I didn't even know we had a message function on this site.... Anyways, hope y'all are having a good weekend!
  9. Hi Beatrice! Marcus is right. I meant that in the "works and days," the only thing that did not escape Pandora's box was hope (elipis.) Also, will you be posting the date of your admission notice on the Forums or the Search Results page? I'm bracing for the coming week, when my first official correspondence I will get from the universities will likely be a rejection from Stanford, since acceptances have come out. But I thought it would be informative to see how long the time is between the rejection notices and the acceptance notices from Stanford. Whew, it looks like it will be a long week ahead! And I still have to wait to hear back from other universities.
  10. Wow Beatrice, congratulations! That's awesome! When did you get your notice of admission?
  11. Yeah, good call! Though have you read about what Hesiod said about Hope?
  12. Well, the Penn interview offers were sent out on January 21st and 22nd. But they weren't posted on the results page until January 29th. So, maybe the people who received the offers forgot to post them on time. Or they are busy with something else at the moment.
  13. No, I just saw the post in the results page. There are always more people posting in the results page than there are people in the Forums. So not everybody who posts results also posts stuff in the Forum.
  14. I personally would consider Brown as lost too, since someone has already received an interview offer from their ancient History program, which I believe is part of their Classics Department.
  15. That's an easy question. My iPhone, obviously. It never leaves my hand anyway. Also, TGIF! At least I won't have to obsessively check my email during the weekend. So I can take a break a from waiting! Happy Weekend y'all!
  16. Also, does anyone on these forums have any info on Brown's Classics department, since someone has already posted the results for their ancient history program.
  17. Bananas. Love 'em.
  18. Thanks for the reply. Does anyone have any info on Brown?
  19. Somebody actually posted an interview offer from Brown's ancient history program, so I was planning to take Brown off my list, although I applied to their philology program. Unless these two programs recruit separately, does anyone know about this? Can't wait for the weekend. At least then I can take a break from constantly checking the search results
  20. Yeah, that might sound like a good idea. This website is a useful tool, in that we can keep track of how the admission process is going. But on the other hand, since other people are hearing back from schools, it's stressful for the rest of us who haven't heard back anything to think about the implications. But yeah, try to stay positive!
  21. The search results say that Yale Classical Archaeology is sending out invitations for the prospectives weekend. Is that the same recruitment process as their Classical Philology program?
  22. Thanks for the info! I saw on the results search page that someone posted an interview offer from Brown for ancient history. My list of schools are growing shorter....
  23. Hi! If Yale is indeed emailing short-listed candidates, it is possible that these won't appear on the results page. For example, one person didn't post about his or her Stanford interview until January 28th, even though he got the interview request on January 23rd. But I wouldn't consider myself rejected until I either receive the actual rejection notice, or I see someone post an acceptance or interview offer on the results page. As of right now, nobody has posted anything about Yale yet,so I am still holding out hope. Hopefully if someone does get some information from Yale, they will post something on the results page.
  24. Hope you guys get some good news! I saw that somebody else posted that they had an interview with Stanford on January 28th. So it looks increasingly like I won't get an offer from there either. Beatrice, I think you are waiting for a result from Stanford as well? If you don't mind my asking, how did your interview go?
  25. If you look at the search results for Brown Classics, the interview offer times for 2014 and 2013 are both listed as February 7th. And in 2012 and interview offer was posted on February 11th. So if that pattern continues to hold for this year, it looks like Brown will start sending out correspondence in the first week of February. Just my two cents. And I don't think Brown's Anthropology Department is related to Classics. And if any of you are in the North East USA, be safe!
