  1. Looks like I'll probably be having another go at it next year. Best of luck to every who is getting recommended!
  2. So is it just the fellowships getting informed tomorrow or all applicant categories?
  3. I almost certainly would have chased her down and demanded that she tell me whatever she knew...that's just a cruel, cruel trick. Best of luck to everyone as well, tomorrow should be entertaining.
  4. I frankly would prefer being in the desert with no communication, that way I couldn't spam F5 on my email all day. The news would just be there when I got home. Also had to calm myself down when my phone alerted me to a new email this morning...
  5. Relevant:
  6. Don't worry, I won't be at work in a cubicle with no window or view attempting not to obsessively refresh my email on Friday. Now I'll be anxious as all hell Friday and have no confirmation that I'll actually hear anything...and then if I don't I'll be wondering if I actually submitted my application or if it was just a dream.
  7. Yup, it does indicate the 30th, so we should all probably just go into hibernation. Watch an email come out from Fulbright that is not our decision, but rather just some irrelevant info, and all of us have small panic attacks when it hits our inboxes.
  8. Yup, I've read plenty of them. Always an interesting read and a great way to kill time, though it can be like binge watching netflix shows, you take it all in in a condensed period and then all of sudden there's no more left....and you're back to attempting to not think about your own application. Good to know I'm not the only one...though some of the response I got were rather frank in how tough the experience can be sometimes, which is good to temper the excitement but also a bit intimidating.
  9. As best I can tell, all recommendations for each program come out at the same time. It appears for ETA applicants this will be on the 30th, and there is no indication that it is otherwise for study grants, but it may well be. See here for the timeline
  10. Thanks for the positive vibes! People have told me it's an achievement to have even applied, but as with most things in life, validation from other people is nice to have. There's a very good chance that I will take another crack at it next year if it doesn't pan out this time. Things tend to work out pretty nicely somehow with a proper mindset and putting in the effort. Good luck to you as well!
  11. Haha, yes, something like this, "Ok, on the 10th I'll get GRE scores back, on the 17th, I'll hear back on a job, and then it's only two weeks"...or something like that. I don't know if I'll be more bummed about not getting to the finalist stage or amazed someone actually though I might be worth sending overseas...
  12. Yet oh so painfully far. I now understand why cartman froze himself instead of waiting for the wii...though he ended up in the future...which also would be a cool outcome.
  13. Ya, I've heard nothing about an interview post recommendation. Apparently a recommendation only means more anxious waiting. At least if we ever end up in purgatory we'll have an idea of what it's like...
  14. The worst is knowing the alternative to getting a grant is sitting in an office at a decent job that you can't really complain about because it pays well enough and isn't awful. But it feels awful because you know the alternative is going out and doing something just unreal. Hooray for limbo...could they not just pull the band aid off quicker than an unbearably long 6 month wait?
