1. Eeek! I see many more Berkeley decisions on the results page! And I'm still waiting :-SS !
2. I did come across one specific fellowship for US/Canadian citizens/permanent residents. I don't recall offhand which one, but you may want to look it up in their database.
3. Well, I took a look at them after I got the mail, but most had their deadlines in Nov. or Dec., some in Jan. And I was ineligible for the few that remained. Being an international student sucks as far as funding goes
4. I think it was a mass email sent to all applicants. I got one, as well as a couple of my friends who have applied there.
5. I've been lurking around this thread for a few days now. Just last night, I dreamt that my SoP was littered with expletives...and I am thinking - How the heck did that happen? I don't even use expletives in everyday speak. Did someone play a prank on me? How can I have not checked before submitting...yada yada yada...Then I woke up
6. I'm in the same position as quadsbaby - no clue about CS, although I guess it would be among the more competitive non-engineering programs. I have always wondered which programs would be more competitive - the engineering and physical sciences ones, which take in more students, or some humanities/socials sciences ones, the kinds of which I read about in these forums, that have 70-80 applicants for 2-3 positions?
7. I second the suggestion. Get GRE out of the way, that way you can focus on your applications while you're working. @ zlich - By 'electronics courses', I believe she means 'electronics programs'. In most Indian universities, the terminology goes as -- program -> course, course -> subject/paper @pavithra - I would suggest you figure out your aims for graduate study, even if you're looking at an MS. 'Electronics' is in itself a very broad field, and you will find certain programs more renowned in certain aspects than the others.
8. Great profile! As for the decisions, I don't have high hopes for Berkeley, although my website logged a few hits from the berkeley.edu domain a couple of days back. I think that my was application being reviewed ;-)
9.

Agree! He's been extremely prompt with all replies. There had been some trouble with my transcripts, and he notified me about it. According to the trakcing website, they had reached long back, and it turned out that they had been misfiled. He immediately looked them up and apologised, twice! Goes to show his dedication. A friend of mine there has been trying to convince me to pick Cornell if I'm admitted, precisely because of this.

@quadsbaby - I see that you are the one who's got admits to Stan. and Berk. Congrats! I think jealousy is officially permitted now Would you mind divulging your profile details?
10. lol..that's a big plus! We could make a joint application, something like the joint presidential - vice-presidential ticket in US
11. me: Ohh adcomm, please admit me instead of the guy whose nickname on gradcafe is quadsbaby adcomm: Riiiiigghttt No offence or hard feelings mate.
12. Just hoping you'd have some info that I don't. I didn't hear back from any prof. remember? But good to hear that most are looking for new students.
13. Shouldn't be hard, especially in larger departments like ECE which take in more students, but getting in touch with some professors always helps.
14. I've applied too, specialising in 'Nanoelectronics, Optoelectronics, MEMs'. Plan to work on optoelectronics and photonics, wherever I am admitted @quadsbaby - Which professors did you talk to? I mailed a couple of them, but haven't heard back. Did you come to know anything about the availability of positions in these fields? Since you also met professors in Mech., I assume you're focussing on MEMs (I hope ;-))
