  1. This might seem like a foolish question, but what is the easiest NES PhD to get into and what is the most difficult? Also, if the goal is to study Islamic History should one aim towards religion programs or NES programs? And again which is easier and which is....?
  2. What are the +/- in studying Islamic Studies in Religions depts vs Near Eastern Studies depts?
  3. Can we create a list of MA and PhD Islamic Studies programs by commenting your own schools here or links for general information? I am a current MA student at Rutgers University in the Islamic Studies program. Link: http://religion.rutgers.edu/graduate/program-information Rutgers MA program is good because it allows you for a year of exchange study at Princeton University.
  4. If you are still looking for info, or need someone to talk with feel free to pm me. I'm a current Islamic Studies grad-student at Rutgers University in NJ.
  5. So, I currently am completing a dual MA in both Islamic Studies as well as Religion & Conflict at Rutgers University. My focus in terms of study is on Islam, and no not theological Islam, more or less on Islamism, Islamic political thought, sectarianism, and extremism/fundamentalism (the stuff you see on the news). I will some time next year be applying to PhD programs and am in need of advice as to where I should apply to? In my field I see an overlap between religious studies, history, political science, etc. Therefore I feel that I can apply to a variance of programs, differing in specialty, however I am clueless as to which programs I should look into. Can someone please help me with this? Much thanks!
