  1. I applied to that stream as well but for the 2 year program

Just wondering - has anyone applied to UofT's Social Justice and Diversity stream?  It seems to be an uncommon one.

Trying to let go of the disappointment of Laurier and get myself excited about UofT again.  When all the decisions are in I would love to get a facebook group together for everyone starting the advanced standing program at UofT this fall.  It is nice to have other people to talk things through with.

  2. Hey, did you receive this message? Now that I've calm down and I've actually read over it properly I think I got waitlisted as well? However I am definitely not believe in this waitlist stuff. The chances are so low (blah, I'm just upset).

"Hello, the MSW Admission Committee has completed assessment of all MSW applicants and have made their decisions.  Your application was not put forward as part of the first round Admission Recommendations.  We have placed your name on our WaitList for the second round of offers if it is required.   After we have heard back from all our first round offer candidates and we have dropped below our target number, we would move to the Waitlist to make second round offers.

If you would like to remain on our waitlist can you please respond to this email to let me know.

I will be contacting you again if you want to remain on the list to advise you of any possible “condition(s)” that were flagged by the Admission Committee that might impact final admission offers.

We will not be ranking the Waitlist candidates until we hear back from everyone – probably late March/early April.

Thank you for considering our MSW program."

same here... took it hard at first but im starting to feel better.  Its not over till its over. congrats!

  3. Your credentials are amazing!

I'm seriously getting antsy over this! I also had an -A in undergrad overall 4 years... -A in my Masters... 4500+ hours and ongoing... Overseas experience ... I focused my statement on issues surrounding violence against women and children ... The structural school at carleton seems like a good fit for me since my masters thesis examined the VAW issues on a multi-level basis... But who knows... Ugh I'm just squirming over here! I'm getting more obsessive lol I'm afraid how my state on mind will be if I need to wait until Friday!!

  4. nutella 14 - I agree completely. I'm sure as you can tell from my previous posts, sometimes I'm super confident and other times I feel like there is no chance I'll get in. Although I absolutely love my personal statement for Carleton I'm afraid that's not what they are looking for. I focused primarily on the development of sexual assault policies for university and college campus across Canada and the hopes of ending the perpetuation of rape culture and instead creating a consent culture on campuses as well. Gah, I'm so conflicted.

I applied with a 3.68/4.0 and on the McGill grading website it says that a 3.3 is B+ and 3.7 is an A- so I'm not sure what I qualify as but still. I completed 4,360 hours of what I believe relevant volunteer/paid work experience. So much self doubt :(

So you're certainly not alone in feeling like you're on top of the world one minute and self-doubting the other.

    edit: spelling mistakes.

  5. You're both so lucky! Mine hasn't changed yet and I'm also for the 2 year stream :(. I've officially come to terms that I'm probably not going to get into grad school... ugh. I hate this process.

My status also says "review in progress by faculty of graduate and postdoctoral affairs"... Hope to get a decision this week! (carleton 2 year stream)!

    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this forum for awhile, but I wasn't able to post due to a botched registration but I'm finally here!

I've applied to two 2 year MSW programs, at Carleton and Laurier. I'm currently located in the Kitchener-Waterloo area but I'm actually hoping for Carleton because I'm from eastern Ontario originally and I'd like to move closer to home.

I haven't heard back from either school yet, but I'm impatiently waiting! My status for Carleton has changed to: Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, so hopefully that means something good!

  6. I have my fingers crossed for you! It's only Thursday 2:30 so there's still a few hours and tomorrow. Also, since it was family day in Ontario, maybe they are one day behind and the rest of the acceptances will be sent out on Monday. Try and look on the bright side :)

I'm equally freaking out because I don't want an email from Carleton since that means a rejection - so every time my phone vibrates I don't want to check it with fear it's the rejection email. I'm actually going to be devastated if that happens. I'm ready for a rejection from Laurier and U of T, but not Carleton. I really really want Carleton to accept me. I'm so anxious and stressed out. Ugh, so scary.

I can't believe we still haven't heard from Laurier!  This is driving me crazy!  Every time my phone dings I jump and it's just some useless sale ad or something.  The more time that goes by, the more I am convincing myself that I will be getting a rejection later. :(

  7. Thank you for this news!!!!!! Omg!!! I do not want any emails, at all! Also, I secretly love that after 5pm I can stop worrying for 12 hours because I highly doubt emails would be sent after business hours. I honestly don't get why they can't just send them all at once. This is torture!! I'm soon stressed -_-

    GUYS !!!! Huge News !!!!!

So I called Sue Brady again (I know you probably think I am crazy) .... I used a different voice than I did yesterday and a different cell number....

She said they are sending out rejections first. So basically you DO NOT want an email from Carelton ....

Rejections are going out this week .... if you do not get a rejection email this week (if you do not hear from them this week) then it means you made it on to either the waitlist or admissions....

The waitlist and admissions will be getting emails next week earliest she said and latest is Feb 28.

Anyone else freaking out and hoping they dont get an email ???
