I just spoke to the Munk school and they told me that the first round of offers will be sent out mid-March.

I hope you are wrong because I put the least amount of effort into this application thinking it won't be competitive.

Is Munk actually competitive for domestic students? I was under the impression that they receive a lot of international applicants but with limited spots.

First round for UofT should be late February. At least that's what I gathered from the "results search" page.

Phew, I finally submitted my apps for York and UofT. Regretably, I wasn't happy with my writing sample so I changed it at the last minute. Does anyone know how much weight ad comms in Canada place on the writing sample? Can a bad writing sample alone kill your application? Cheers.

Applying to York, UofT, McMaster, and Carleton for political theory. 3.5 (cGPA), 3.61 (L2), decent EC's, ok references, no research experience. Wishing everyone good luck for this cycle!

I am also interested in knowing more about the admissions standards for these programs. From what I have heard, UofT and McMaster are hot in theory right now so they are more competitive. Other schools shouldn't be too difficiult to get into given that you demonstrate good fit in other aspects of your application. Also, I know that York doesn't honor the B+ cutoff in its admissions but focuses more on your L2 and SOP.

Would 1-2 pages count as 500 words?
