To any wait listers out there, I declined MICA Hoffberger's offer and will attend Boston University. I imagine that a spot would be opening up!

Carnegie Mellon has an excellent reputation and is one of the top private research institutions in the world. They have an unlimited amount of resources and world class faculty. I like that it is a three year program and that there is a strong emphasis on not only the conceptual component of craft but making work that is socially and culturally relevant.

Accepted to MICA-Hoffberger School of Painting via phone call this afternoon!

I was also accepted to BU this week! The MFA Painting program at BU has a very strong reputation and from the research I've done, is held in pretty high regard amongst "painter's painters" and academics although it does fly a little under the radar. The program is very rigorous and studio intensive. They have distinguished faculty including John Walker who is their current department head. Other notable faculty include Dushko Petrovich (also teaches at Yale and RISD), Hugh O'Donnell, Richard Ryan, and Gideon Bok. Also Brice Marden is an alum which is pretty cool although some would say he honed his sensitivities at Yale. John Walker is known to be pretty hands on and often invites his first year MFA students to his property in Maine to paint plein air. From what I understand, the studios are large and the resources/facilities are excellent. Another huge plus is that their tuition is much lower than other MFA programs at other comparable private institutions. You also have the option to study at their campus in Venice, Italy for 6 weeks during the summer. As you can tell, BU was my first choice and I'm very excited for the fall!

Anyone hear from SAIC painting yet? From last years results, it looks like letters are sent via mail.

Nothing yet. I interviewed with the Painting dept on Sunday. I think it well but you never know...

Preparing for SAIC interview tomorrow. My paintings are 30x24 in size. do you think they are too large to bring with? I know they project your portfolio and encourage you to bring smaller works if possible. Thanks and good luck to everyone else!

Rejected as well. MICA interview is this afternoon and SAIC on Sunday. Looks like someone last year heard back from Boston painting on the 27th of February so...

Thank you! Both Walker and Berthot are influences of mine. Hoping to hear back from Boston soon. John Walker is the department head there and I really like their program. From what I understand he is pretty hands on and it would be a unique opportunity.

Received rejection notice from Rutgers this morning via email. Was told to check web portal for decision notification.
