@snoq - I would consider the rest of us to be rejected. If not, it is a very very small chance (not worth keeping hopes). I have assumed a reject.
-
@thr0waway - were you on the admission committee?
-
@yoconman - funding info was available in the acceptance mail from the dept.
-
@superdominator - I'm torn between the two. I guess the decision will end up being based on daily convenience and logistics (I have a family, commute to wife's work etc)
-
I was not interviewed before. This is the first I heard from Stanford. I Dont think all admits are notified by call (my case had a unique reason)
-
I have applied to distributed systems with secondary interest as statistical learning
-
I got a call from a very famous prof (not mentioned as POI in application, but in my field of specialization) saying I'm admitted, and expect a mail with details tomorrow. So very likely all mails are coming out tomorrow.
-
Those who got in - what area/specialization have you applied?
-
@thissiteispoison - I'm hoping so too, but for now assuming it is a reject. Very unlikely beyond this point.
-
Me neither. Congrats to whoever received admits!
-
Yeah, looks like..
-
Has the application status changed for anybody? Mine is still "Submitted"..
-
So, will it be today?!
-
@rp15 go to MIT if you can for EE..
-
@rp15 that sounds very promising.. What group/area have you applied?
-
@rp15 which group have you applied to at Stanford? Were you interviewed by poi or ad com?
-
@superdominator machine learning + distributed systems. I have applied to amplab. Joe is awesome!
-
@superdominator - amplab is largely focused on big data. http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/Research/Areas/DBMS/- Mike Franklin and Joe are the best DB profs you could ask for in my opinion http://db.lcs.mit.edu/- Mike Stonebraker is a legend, but is adjunct. Not too familiar with Sam (I'm sure he is good). So it is 2 active profs vs 1 active prof.
-
@superdominator I would imagine you will have a great time at Berkeley then! Do you plan on attending visit day? What lab have you applied to?
-
@superdominator: i think you need to be a bit more specific. Berkeley is probably better in DB, distributed systems. However OS research is probably more active in MIT
-
I am an Indian international student (happens to be working in the US now). I'm waiting for most results as well (one admit so far).
-
I was wondering the same. Would appreciate if the interviewees posted the experience of the call.
-
I see email as well. I don't recall well, but I think it has always been email?
-
Has anybody heard when MIT cs results are expected? Looks like several univs have announced cs results a week earlier than last year.. MIT cs is next weekend going by last year?
-
Eh, I was only checking gradcafe search results, while my acceptance mail was waiting for me in my inbox for an hour!!
