  1. I got a rejection from them 3 weeks ago.
  2. Has anyone heard back from Virginia Tech (Structural Engineering) regarding funding decisions? I emailed them last week and was told the decisions are still being made.
  3. Just heard back from Georgia Tech (Structures). Good luck to other applicants.
  4. I used Magoosh and loved it. Do check it out.
  5. The place I live in is so hot AND humid! The heat index currently is 44 C (111 F)! Ridiculous!
  6. It usually takes 3-6 weeks after you accept their offer AND submit the necessary financial documents.
  7. University offices remain open during the spring break.
  8. Hello! I will mostly be heading to Virginia Tech this Fall, and I would like to know more about Blacksburg. I see that you're an international student too. How has the transition been for you so far? I read that it gets very cold out there, but hopefully I get used to it. I live in a place where it's hot and humid throughout the year, so the change is going to be quite drastic. How are the living expenses there? What about off-campus housing? Any recommendations? Also, I see that you're in the Transportation Engineering program. I got accepted to the Structures program, so could you let me know more about the program in terms of research and funding opportunities, faculty, etc? Apologies for asking so many questions!
  9. Nothing form Georgia Tech. UT Austin sent decision letters in the second week of Feb and few more last week.
  10. It doesn't necessarily mean a rejection. Some of my friends got their acceptance letters about 5-6 months after they submitted their applications.
  11. If you've been recommended for admission, then there's nothing to worry about. Official letters take time. As the poster above said, if this is your top choice then go ahead and accept it.
  12. I don't count but I do check a lot. Being 10 and a half hours ahead of EST means I end up checking my emails very frequently in the night, because of which I lose sleep.
  13. I've received 4 acceptance letters till now and three out of these four letters were emailed to me sometime in the midnight (different timezone). So every time I opened these emails, it would take me a couple of minutes to adjust my eyes to the bright screen and then another 5 or 10 minutes to wake my half-asleep mind to read the letter and to make sure I wasn't dreaming. The other acceptance letter I received was when I was taking an afternoon nap. This also happened to be my dream college! I could not believe I got in. It took me a while for the thought to sink in as I was very groggy and tired (I hate noon naps!).
