  1. When did Weill Cornell let you know and when is their scheduled interview weekend? I'm still hoping to hear from them by the end of today if they started sending out the interview invites
  2. Congrats guys! Looking forward to seeing you guys there!! They seemed pretty accommodating on the email so you should be fine
  3. Just got an interview from NYU Sackler!!! Definitely an awesome Christmas present!!!!
  4. Most of my interviews have had multiple weekends offered. It's always better to go to the first weekend if possible, especially at your top school but I think you should see what your 2nd choice says. Did you already confirm the weekend with your 2nd choice?
  5. Interview invite at University of Washington, Seattle Immunology!! Guess I will be visiting the west coast after all
  6. Wow, 5 interviews at top programs! You're going to have really great choices for grad school! Congrats CancerImmune Are you going to the UChicago jan 29th-31st weekend? If you are, I'll see you there
  7. Congrats on UCSF guys!! A couple of my friends go there and they have nothing but awesome things to say about it. I'm refreshing my inbox every 5 minutes now. I hope I get a chance to visit San Fran with you guys!
  8. Very true, there are pros and cons to everything. Having multiple interviews means having to make tough choices in terms of program availability. Also, I think a lot of your programs haven't notified yet. For example, Weill Cornell, NYU, MIT haven't sent out any interview offers yet so you still have a chance at an interview there. Don't lose hope yet!
  9. Awesome! Which schools did we overlap in? I'm actually really excited to see a lot of future immunologists, I feel like everyone in my school only wants to do genetics these days.
  10. Got an interview offer for University of Minnesota MiCAB today!
  11. Yea, I always forget about Columbia since I didn't apply there but yes, they also offer a great stipend. I don't know about the housing situation they have but Washington Heights has decent rent even out of campus housing so it should be ok. I'm not sure what their policy for interviews are but you can always ask them on Monday maybe. For sure!! Let me know closer to the interview weekend and we can exchange contact info and meet up there. I hope to hear back from Hopkins also so maybe I might see you in Baltimore also.
  12. It's a pretty great city. If you wanna know anything in particular about it, let me know. I can give you all the info on any of the neighborhoods around the schools. I don't know too much about the academic specifics for all the schools but I know a decent amount about Cornell and Sloan since they are 3 blocks away from me and Sinai since I got to visit all 3. Rockefeller is also around but I don't know too much about it other than they have a really great society meeting with free food and alcohol every month that is open to everyone in the area
  13. So I actually have gotten a chance to visit the school and have a tour and speak to some of the directors there since I live in the NYC area. It's actually a pretty decent stipend in NYC, I think only Cornell and NYU offer higher stipends and a graduate student there told me that they do adjust for cost of living every year. They also have guaranteed housing that is pretty cheap for NYC, they pay anywhere from about $500-$700 in the Upper East Side which is a steal for rent anywhere in NYC but especially that neighborhood. Also, if you want to know the specifics of the funding, the grad school covers the first year and then the PI picks up the stipend once you declare. It's also not dependent on teaching since they don't have an undergrad campus.
  14. That's cool, you'll love NYC. I kinda don't know whether I should leave but if a top program impresses me, I would be even more open to leaving. I'm in a similar spot in terms of grades and GRE but so far I've gotten 3 interviews. I think letters and research experience might be the most important factors though.
  15. I also heard back from them with an interview offer! Immunology though but I guess they send out invites for the same date because I had friends applying to genetics and they also got their offers today. Are you originally from NYC also?
  16. Thanks for the info on UCSF! I will probably be refreshing my email non stop next week. I figure a lot more programs will have had time to review and send out apps so fingers crossed! How is the BMS program at UCSF if you don't mind me asking?
  17. I'm sure they haven't sent all of the interview invites but they are most likely sending out the first wave of interview invites. In my email, they advised me to respond to them by december 23rd but the interview weekends are scheduled for January 22nd-24th. That probably gives them time to continue to send out interviews to as many candidates as possible until right before the interview.
  18. I think you're fine. People only seem to be getting interviews from the same schools which seems like they are processing their applications early
  19. I applied to their IMP program. I don't know which programs have notified then.
  20. Both of my interview offers so far have been via email. Emory had their program chair email me the offer and University of Chicago was a program administrator. I guess it's different for every program
  21. Congrats to everyone getting interviews! I also just got an interview from Emory Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis!!
  22. If you just type in the name of the school in the search bar, you can see all activity related to that school. For example, type in NYU and you will see that they sent in alot of notifications for interview on Dec. 20th. You can also see when they sent rejections and acceptances as well.
  23. http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php This site has all of the people who have documented when they received admissions/interviews/rejection notifications from programs. It might be easier than going through last year's thread to find the schools you applied for.
  24. I think you have a pretty decent shot at getting into a top program. My stats aren't nearly as impressive as yours and I was able to get an interview at UChicago for Immunology so you should have a pretty decent shot at getting at lest 7-8 out of the 15 you applied to, maybe even more. It'll really help if you have a good letter of recommendation from a famous scientist. I agree with @blinchik in that you should select whatever school you end up going to based on the research being done there and your interests and what their post-PhD statistics are. I think you have most big names on your application profile so wherever you earn your PhD from, you should be set in terms of job prospects.
  25. Mount Sinai's was definitely the easiest. Super straightforward and I think it's the only application that asked for a photo of the applicant. I found Stanford to be the most difficult application from my bunch.
