  1. Exactly same thing happened to me!! I really hope it doesn't affect us negatively! I'm just hoping that they were busy and only sent a few at the end of the day and will send more tomorrow morning? maybe?
  2. Congrats to whoever got the Harvard invite! Good luck to everyone else who applied as well
  3. I just got a missed call from Brown but they did not leave a message! I called back the number and it says it was a Brown number for informational purposes (?) Is anyone else getting calls?
  4. I just emailed and confirmed for the Feb 3-4 interview session at UW! Maybe I'll meet some of you there! Even though I got an interview I am still anxiously refreshing my email button every few minutes... Good luck to everyone, hope some emails get sent today...
  5. As an international student UW requested that I apply before Nov 1st! Considering I like pushing deadlines, I submitted it Oct 31st and did not celebrate Halloween! For other schools I generally applied around Nov 30th...
  6. I got UW too! I'm sorry the two options overlap though I hope there is a way that you can attend both!
  7. Hi! They have 3 interview weekend options: January 15-16, January 29-30, and February 12-13. If your sis got the NUIN call, they will send you an email between today and tomorrow with more details!
  8. Thank you! I am definitely less nervous now... Oh Wonderful! Thank you and congratulations to you too!!!
  9. First interview!! Woooohooooo!!! (Northwestern University NUIN)
  10. It is also likely that a postbacc shows commitment to research. There are students who have had extensive undergraduate research experience but underestimate the commitment of pursuing a PhD (long hours, not having a real paycheck for many years, must be internally motivated to get anywhere, etc) and drop out after a year or two (I know a few cases). Having at least 1year of full-time research experience after school and still applying to a PhD means you are making a well thought-out and informed decision. Nobody wants to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars on a student who is not convinced this is the right decision and might not complete the PhD! So don't get discouraged just yet!
  11. Congratulations to both! A great way to start the week
  12. I guess I got confused by fluttershy's comment!
  13. ... Mhhmm I got this email from them 2 days ago (even though I submitted my app a while ago)... "Thank you for considering the University of Michigan Program in Biomedical Sciences, and submitting an application for graduate studies with us. We appreciate your interest. Over the next few weeks, we will be processing applications to ensure that we have all required materials so that we can review your complete application. That means it will still be several weeks before you hear a decision from us. In the mean time, you can confirm the arrival of your application materials as outlined in Rackham Graduate School's handy guide. Applicants who are selected to interview will either be invited to interview via Skype (if outside of the U.S.) or intivted to attend one of two visit dates: January 22-24 and January 29-31, 2015 (if within the U.S.)."
  14. No, but they were able to tell me my app was complete (which is what I wanted to know). I think they might send that email out later after the admissions committee meets? I'm not really sure...
  15. On the phone with Columbia (to track your application you need an app ID number and I wasn't sent one so I freaked out a little bit)... Their admissions committee is meeting some time next week to review applications and interview invitations should be sent around Xmas! Just an fyi for everyone else
  16. Wow pasteltomato! You have really read all of these threads thoroughly! Thanx!
  17. I am new to this place. Where is this results page and how can I read it? haha
  18. I'm trying to distract myself so I'm gonna ask a question... Does anyone know what to do if you get interviews for 2 places that have the same interview weekend? Do you just have to pick one and basically lose your chance at the other program? (I think 2-3 of the places I applied to share the same interview weekend...)
