Stanford, No but people might start hearing soon (?).. This is from their website: The Admissions Committees will start to review applicant files a few days following the application deadline. It is important that all of your application materials are submitted by the deadline. During the week of January 5, 2015, the committees will start to contact those applicants who have been selected for an interview. The selected applicants will be invited to interview, at our expense, to arrive on Wednesday, March 4 and depart on Sunday, March 8, 2015. This is our only interview session.

I sought PIs at some institutions, not all (I applied to 13), and have gotten invites to interview from institutions in both categories. I did not ask about their funding directly but did ask if they were considering taking graduate students in the upcoming year or two. I am unsure of what I want to study specifically (or what level) so I only applied to programs with mandatory lab rotations, however, with or without them I would have contacted some people. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

So, one of the programs I applied to called me around the holidays to inform me they would like a Skype Pre-interview with me, which means I had not yet been officially invited to their interview weekend. They had been a bit M.I.A. and I assumed it was because of the holidays. The director of the grad program did respond to an email I sent less than a week ago and apologized for the delay setting up the Skype pre-interview. This morning I received a "Welcome Letter" which included the details of the interview weekend (???). I think it was probably a mistake and will email the director of the grad program about it. Anybody else have some thoughts on the matter? I was extremely motivated by this program when I first applied, but it now seems like they are having me jump through hoops (?) I'm not sure what to make of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think you might still have time. I got a call from an institution requesting a Skype pre-interview about 2 weeks ago. They told me I would hear back from them that following week. I just got an email from them saying "sorry we have been so slow getting back to you" and basically giving me an update but still no concrete plans. I wouldn't sweat it too much. It seems like everyone but us is away from their computers!

I'm not necessarily agreeing with the original post, but that's a low blow dude... Also quite self-righteous and condescending... This is a stressful process for many people, and it goes differently for everyone... you don't need to resort to those kinds of comments to make a point.

If I were you, I would probably pick the first weekend. Worst case scenario, you are tired and don't do so well on your interview session for your last-choice. You can also try and contact them and ask if it would be ok to get back to them at the beginning of January, but I don't know how they would take it! PS: I'm doing 2 back-to-back interviews in February and I don't think it will be so bad!

For Neuroscience or PIBS? or both? So, I think I read a while back that PIBS had 3 interview sessions. However, when I got invited, it was for a specific one (the middle one). They might be just notifying people chronologically (i.e. first the ones for the first weekend, second the ones for the second one, etc). I am speculating though... Or maybe each PIBS program/specialization has a pre-determined weekend... I'm not sure...

I just got a call from one of the programs I applied to saying they want a Skype Pre-interview with me because I am international (even though I live in the US). I am not sure how to understand/take it? Has anybody else gotten this request or done it already? I am not even sure how to prepare for it! Any advice/opinion would be helpful. Thanks!
