lol, I have never seen a mod getting provoked this easily. And I wasn't even trying to troll! Really, you need professional help if you can wish such horrible things on someone based on the fact that they disagree on something as simple as language used in an online forum.

People are generally braver on the internet. Being anonymous does wonderful things to egos. Hence, the name calling etc. Only, it is not exactly funny when nobody else laughs.

It's sad when I see people getting their kicks by being bitter on the internet.

As long as I can understand what the person is trying to say, I am cool with it. And really, an intellectually done snark doesn't make it a discussion. It still falls in the wanking spectrum. (there - two words that can be considered as 'chatspeak'/slang)

Like I said elsewhere, say something like "Thank you for the email/notification/post/whatever. Will be waiting eagerly for the letter/funding information/blah/whatever is missing." That ways you don't need to talk about flat out accepting or denying or tell them that you're waiting.

I guess it applies only if there is no rating or ranks amongst those on the waitlist. Maybe the adcoms will consider all those on the waitlist if someone amongst the admitted students rejects the offer.

Got an email from CCA today. Accepted. No word on funding yet. I need that merit scholarship dammit.

You sound like you're from my part of the world. Where parents are supposed to cover education expenses and it's certainly not something to be ashamed of if they do. Where are you from again?

They do, but not for everyone. So there still is hope.

From what I think, they won't be wasting time on an interview if they already know that they are going to reject you. And I think all those things are pretty standard. I had three interviews and they all said the same stuff. I was weirded out when one school asked me where all I had applied and what would my preferences be if accepted to all three places(imagine having to answer that without any warning). Maybe I am just trying to be optimistic here, but I sure hope none of those questions are signs of a rejection.

It's just a matter of ten more days at the worst. Still waiting to hear from 6 schools! And hey, welcome!

THIS.FEELS.GOOD. Got my first acceptance today. MICA. Ahem, after the initial excitement, this also feels good because they sent a personalized email(it said stuff about my work).

How did your interviews go? (for people who had them) Was the interviewer's behavior towards you an indicator of the things to come? They don't say "You're an excellent candidate" to everybody, do they? Or other positive sounding remarks like "Will you be able to leave your country if accepted here?" and "You sound just like me when I was about to enter graduate school." I got excited after my first interview but now I hear positive stuff like this in every interview, so obviously I am skeptical. And all of these come from the respective heads of dept. I know, no one can know for sure what it means, but I would be glad to hear some personal experiences, negative and positive. People said negative stuff and admitted you? or vice versa..or anything.. Basically, in your experience, do these guys mean it when they say stuff like that?
