  3. Okay so maybe this is a dumb question... But PhD students don't really have winter breaks and summer breaks, do they? I'm an international student, and now Im a little bit freaking out that it's not possible to go home in the next 5 years:(:(:(
  4. Hey guys, so my grades for 2015Fall just came out, and it seems like I did pretty well last semester, increased my overall GPA by about 0.1 Most of the programs I applied haven't emailed me their results yet. I wonder if I should update my transcript? Is it even possible? I wasn't really happy about my grades before last semester, so updating transcript may increase my chance of getting in to the programs I guess? Thanks!
  5. I saw in the survey that someone got interview invitation from WashU!!! Are they sending all invitations or just a few? Any body knows?

  11. Hey guys, I have a question about interviews...How are these invitations sent? Via phone? Email? I saw in the result forum that either can happen. Because I am not gonna be in the states over winter break, and was worried if they send invitations via phone, which I would not have access to...

Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help:Skipped 12th grade in high school and graduate in 3 years with two majors and a minor? I'm not sure if this counts:(Applying to Where:All neuroscience PhD programsUniversity of Illinois at Urbana Champaign University of Wisconsin-Madison University of Michigan-Ann Arbor University of Washington Seattle Northwestern University UCLA? Imperial College London University of Munich I'm still not sure what universities to apply for and what the odds are of me getting into the programs I already have in mind. With the deadlines approaching I'm about to freak out!!!! >.< PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ANY SUGGESTION HELPS! THANKS!
  13. And I don't know if this is worth mentioning... but the MCB program we have is about 30th in the country, with a top 10 psychology program.
  14. Hey guys, I'm applying for the neuroscience phd programs starting from 2016 fall. With the deadline of most programs (Dec. 1st) approaching, I'm still not sure what schools or which level of phd programs I should be applying. Can anyone provide any insights/suggestions? Any advice will be appreciated! I'm currently doing Molecular&Cell biology as my first major, with a second major in psychology because we do not have neuroscience as an undergrad major here... And with a minor in Chem. My overall GPA is pretty low... Only 3.39, because I have 2 majors and graduate in 3 years, somehow it affects my GPA. GRE: verbal 160 +quan 167+writing of 3.0 I know that my analytical writing is way below the average. I'm an international student from Asia, and when I took the test, I did not take any college level scientific writing class. I got B+ in both of my college writing classes. Would this prove that I'm not HORRIBLE at writing? Should I take GRE again? Research experience: joined a neuroscience lab at the start of my second semester in Freshmen year, so it should be 5 entire semesters of research till I graduate. Again any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!
  15. By embarrassing I mean pretty uneven. If I got an overall low score then I would definitely retake it. Most of the people I know don't really care about writing and tried to persuade me not to spend that extra 185 dollars...
  16. Hey guys, I took the GRE general test a couple of months ago, and got 160 on verbal and 167 on quantitive. Since I am an international student and hadn't taken any writing class by the time of the test, I got a pretty bad score, 3.0 on writing... I am applying for the neuroscience phd program, I was wondering if the universities would really care about this because I am not applying for something like literature. Do I need to retake the test? I am applying for 2016 fall. Thanks!
