  1. I haven't received my package yet. Hopefully soon. It was Yale or bust for me. I visited Columbia numerous times but the facilities are their demise. Everything seems outdated and tiny. It's a great program though. Congrats to their incoming class but Yale serves my interests much better.
  2. I'm in. Thank the Lord. -painting MFA
  3. It changed from an x to a check, but im sure it was once I scheduled my interview.
  4. Click the status update link.
  5. Welp, Just got the official interview update. The glitch was fact. Thankful I was able to reserve a spot.
  6. The link came up yesterday. I wasn't able to schedule. Then It was taken down. Then It came back and I was able to schedule an interview but i'm unsure because I haven't received an email or anything else.
  7. My status has this as well. I'm a bit confused though because there is no additional information attached to the link at this time. Has anyone else's status been updated with this?
  8. I searched for it. I'm pretty savvy with a search bar. I'm also using a mobile device. This looks sketchy. I'm not doubting it but last year an interview request note was simply placed above the payment confirmation, but what do I know....? Just wait it out.
  9. I don't think notifications went out. I also can't find this acceptance notification everyone keeps speaking of. Can someone copy and paste or share that? At this point I'm thinking it will be tonight or Monday. I interviewed last year and everything is usually done at once. Interview requests and rejections.
  10. It's definitely happening tonight by 11pm. Last Year interviews were requested on the 30th of January, which was a Friday. Notifications are always the last Friday of the month.
  11. Depends on the department. Yale's painting department consistently caps at 22-23 students per year.
  12. No Later than the 31st, Guaranteed. Brace yourself. PAINTING (MFA)
  13. Has anyone heard back from admissions about the technical problems?
  14. This is an open forum for 2016 applicants to share their work, discuss concerns or ask questions about this year's application process. Feel free to exchange websites or critical dialogue if necessary. Best of luck to all!
  15. I think it's easy to judge a book by its cover. Let's not forget the importance of community within grad school. I know many of the students in the program, and most of them are creating highly innovative and experimental work but beyond that they are intellectually solid. Yale really emphasizes its "ivy" league status when it comes to the importance of research while creating art. I think those are other factors to think about, not just the art. If that doesn't suffice then surely your looking into the wrong program.
  16. exactly! Thanks for stating this. Its Yale were talking about. People don't even consider how much money is circulating into Yale through the alumni base alone, not including all the other resources. Not saying it isn't expensive but I doubt people are taking out as much money as perceived.
  17. I only applied to YALE because I made up my mind early that if I was going to take a risk pursuing art it should be at the school of my dreams. Clearly we are all not going to be successful artists its just not possible. YALE isn't some magic ticket for success. Even though people may believe it is. I don't mind the debt because I want access to an institution that is very interconnected, tight knit, and prides itself in not only having amazing facilities and staff but has also produced some of the most intellectual and innovative artists I have seen. We all have choices, if failure is something you're concerned about why apply? If debt is a concern, why attend? We are all taking risks in this field and for me that's part of the appeal. Will it pay off, who knows but I speak for myself when I say it is a risk I'm willing to take. I personally wouldn't trade it for a full ride at any other school.
  18. I applied right out of undergrad. Not everyone takes time off. It is a great thing to do but it's ultimately your decision. Really evaluate your work and foundation and decide whether you feel comfortable attending school if admitted at this time. My program was very independent. The way I learned in undergrad was very hands on and experimental. It helped me really find my voice and feel safe applying this year because I personally felt like an "mfa student" without the title or resources. I made a lot of work and now I just want to unpack what I'm doing, why and access critical feedback to take it to the next level.
  19. no email just a status update que on the application.
  20. This space is designated for potential MFA candidates anxious for an upcoming department interview. Please feel free to share your school, interview date (if set), and what's on your mind!
  21. I GOT AN INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!!! MY HEART MELTED.
