  1. Thanks for a great report. 2 quick clarifications: you said "There is an office with desk space for AuD only" does that mean each AuD has a desk or does it mean there is an office-like room that the AuDs share? This one is just curiosity, which department offered you a financial offer - if you don't want to say no problem. Thanks again it was very helpful.
  2. I heard from Colorado Boulder yesterday 3/13/15 via email at 4:15pm. Waitlisted, shucks.
  3. I unfortunately will have to skip. If you go, could you report back on how their clinic "feels" does it seem active, a positive place to spend time, or is it a bit gloomy like some academic audiology SLP clinics seem to be. Also what kind of space do students have, own offices? nice lounge? or just somewhere else on campus?
  4. Thanks, they were so conscientious to be very clear about funding at the interviews. Unfortunately the word "Funding" or assistance did not appear at all in my letter (one way or another). I thought that possibly funding information might come later. What made you think no funding? They were so good about being upfront in person. I was disappointed that they didn't at least say "Unfortunately … you will not be funded in your first (year, semester, etc.). At least I would know.
  5. Just got an email from "The University of Iowa" at 3pm Mon 3/2/15 notifying me of acceptance decision. I have some serious decisions to contemplate.
  6. I guess I am lucky I didn't even notice that some others had heard. So I haven't had any additional stress from worried waiting. I'll start checking that mailbox more seriously now. But one more vote for haven't heard yet.
  7. I heard a decision from Utah State via email today.
  8. I heard from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign last night. When I went through the grad school process more than a decade ago it was a much more personal process. Professors called and talked to you, interviews conducted and funding discussed right away. It might be the difference between Ph.D. programs and AuD programs, or maybe between Research Psychology Grad programs vs. a more professionally oriented program. Or maybe just changing times. Does, anybody have plans or advice they would like to share for how they plan to ask about funding? Timeline? Who will you call? etc. Oh well, next week besides going to the Iowa interview, I am taking it on myself to drive to two extra schools to get some face to face time with folks, maybe that will help. Please give me any ideas you currently have about broaching the topic of funding. I expected the schools themselves to do it, and now it looks like I have to regroup and come up with a new plan.
  9. I just heard from Amy Hartman at UW consortium Madison. They will be having an open house on Sat March 14th.
  10. Is that a right to left split, or top/bottom? Jeez, I've heard of some grueling interview processes but thats ridic... Sorry I'm such a geek, but I've been reading this for 4 days or so and thinking this every time. I wonder if everybody else is expecting to hear from lots of their programs in the last week of February? That is kind of what I'm expecting - no news till that week. Wish it were earlier.
  11. Yep, I'll be there. I'll be the old guy named Mike. I see our other overlap is Bloomington, I don't really have much of a feel for when they might send any notices. Good luck with everything, and see you on the 27th.
  12. But maybe give 'em a day or two to shovel out the snow. They got hammered there in Watertown, MA.
  13. Just got an email from Iowa. I was invited to their interview day on Friday Feb 27th. That is very good news for me. They were the highest ranked program I applied to and they seem like a great program. Too bad funding is going to be such an issue for my family. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you audiaranel.
  14. Not sure how this thread is different than hrw5051's, maybe you should check the answers posted there. My answers are in my signature below. I'm wondering if anyone else thinks U Iowa might start contacting folks for interviews by the end of the month.
  15. Well, for the last 7 years I've been a professor of cognitive psychology. I like classroom instruction, so in that way I do like teaching. Before that I was doing a lot of research. I want to get my AuD to be able to work in a clinical and medical setting. Helping people hear. I like the idea of being able to live in just about any semi-metro area of the country and actually making a livable salary. (not always the case for profs.) Also to respond to jj23: as for being able to keep up with accelerated - Maybe I'm fooling myself, but I'm so hung-ho to get a new start and a new challenge, I wouldn't mind getting tossed into the deep end. Q for jj23: Any info about funding experiences that you could share?
