  1. So... if you are number one on a waitlist and your school does not over admit you have a good shot at them going to the waitlist and picking you up? Guess I always just thought of a waitlist as 4th place- close but no admit.
  2. Is it really true that a number one on the waitlist will ultimatly be admitted? I pretty much think I am out of luck at this point.....
  3. Anybody accepted to the PhD. program in Lit planning on turning down your offer?
  4. Does any one want to claim the Purdue acceptance on the results page? I didnt think they would be making decissions for another week or so. Has anyone else heard from Purdue, or do you have any insights about the admissions for this year, class size, etc. - especially for those of us looking to the phd. in lit.
  5. If a professor that you want to work with is on the admissions committee that is reading the applications, does that give that applicant a better chance of being admitted than an applicant whose interests are similar to a professor who is not on the admissions committee and not reading applications? I would have to think it does…. Curious about your thoughts.
  6. I was advised from the graduate secretary at a school I applied to that "you should expect to hear from us between March 1 and April 15th". Now, in my mind waiting nervously for the decision, do you think that means the first round of acceptances will go out on March 1st, or that they will not be made until sometime after March first. Just curious as I will be waiting for March 1st for a decision and will then plunge into despair if I don’t hear anything. Also, does anyone know how applications are decided? I know there are several people who read the applications, but do they then funnel these to the professor one is interested in working with? Just curious how all these things are handled in such a relatively short time frame.
  7. Hello All, Just curious about those of you who are applying to Purdue and Indiana for Fall 2010. What are your areas of interests and specializations? I am looking at Early Modern and have fairly decent GRE scores. How about the rest of you?
