  1. UCSD is still making decisions. I know this as a fact, since I was recently contacted by one of the faculty members for an interview. I also haven't seen too many accepts from Columbia, so I'm not sure what to make of them. I would assume you can still expect to get some admissions after this point. Don't lose hope!
  2. I added Google Analytics to my private website which I linked in my SOP, so whenever someone from a University visits it, I can find out. Someone visited it from Arlington, VA, which happened to be around the time of an NSF panel located there(so, a bunch of profs from different schools were in Arlington, VA at that time). Now, I have no way of identifying which University it was
  3. Thank you for the depth of information! So, are you saying the people who recommend you for admission are not the ones that you mention in the SOP, but is rather random to see extent and someone from the admission committee?
  4. I applied to UW's systems and networks group and I have yet to hear back at this point. I have an internship offer from Google, and I can only accept the offer if I get into UW. The timeframe of the internship is such that I could only pursue it if I attend a school that is in the quarter system(UW is the only quarter system school I applied to). Would it be alright if I contacted the POI regarding the status of my application (I have to respond to the internship offer by Feb 7th)? Or can I assume that since I haven't been contacted by anyone till now, that my chances of acceptance are slim to none? Also, is there anyone else that has applied to their systems group(POI - Tom Anderson, Steve Gribble, Arvind K.)? Have you heard back from the department?
  5. I applied to their CS program, and heard back a couple of weeks ago. I think the time you hear back is largely dependent on the POI.
  6. I heard from someone that UC Berkeley has a shortlist of applicants and interviews them. After conducting the interviews they choose which of them to accept. So, if you didn't receive an interview chances of getting accepted are slim.
  7. Does anyone have a feeling that certain parts of their application are not good enough, and fear that the entire application doesn't make it through some sort of filter(even though you have stellar LoRs, GPA etc)?
  8. I noticed there were a bunch of Georgia Tech admissions today. I checked the status of my application on their website, and I don't see anything related to the status at all. I just see the word submitted highlighted in green. Does anyone else have this? Also, were the people who got accepted interviewed by a POI?

  10. Well that's a bummer Does anyone know what's the current stage for the University of Washington PhD applications?
  11. I think UW gives out departmental fellowships to their best applicants for the first year, and the remaining two years might be RA/TAship. That might be what people are referring to. So, hopefully those that haven't heard back as of now still have a shot.
  12. What's your area of specialization and what's the name of the POI?
  13. Anxious about not hearing from UW for an interview :(

  14. I noticed a handful of people received interviews from UW. I was curious what your area of specialization is, who are your interested faculty and which professor contacted you? Also, if you don't mind saying, what was the interview like(questions based on past experience or brain teasers and technical questions)?
  15. There were 5 more interviews for UW. When I asked the graduate advisor at the department she said they don't conduct interviews. I've rarely seen interviews for UW in the past as well. I wish the users would post which area they're interested in/which professor contacted them for the interview.
  16. I noticed that too. However, the user said he was accepted into signal processing and networks. That seems more like EE than CS, but I can't be sure. I didn't find any research areas similar to it in the UW CS website.
  17. Has anyone that applied to University of Washington(Seattle) heard back from the department? If yes, who did you list as the interested faculty? Thanks!
  18. To clarify, I am referring to the Computer Science PhD program at Berkeley.
  19. I noticed a bunch of people received interviews from UC Berkeley. I still haven't heard anything from them, and I am starting to get a little worried. Which professors contacted you for the interviews? Also, if you don't mind, could you share your credentials (research exp, university, gpa, gre, publications etc. )?
