  1. String theory
  2. Personally, I feel like at this point in the game it wouldn't sway a decision. Plus, as you said, you haven't completed the position so it doesn't add any experience to your resume. But who knows? Worse case scenario is you tell them and it has no effect. At this point I think most of us would make deals with voodoo priests if we thought it was even remotely possible of helping us get accepted.
  3. So based on what has been posted on the results page, if we haven't been contacted yet by UVA we should assume rejection?
  4. If the UVA social psych applicant on the results page would pm me his/her poi, it would be much appreciated.
  5. Depending on the school, yes. I am not on AdCom, so take what I say with a grain of salt obviously, but some of the more prestigious MA programs I know have an extremely high percentage of students get into PhD programs following completion.
  6. Some programs. My research has focused on decision making and morality psychology (regardless of age group). So I applied to a couple different areas at different schools. (Sorry for the vagueness.)
  7. I have MA programs as backups for PhD programs. If all of that falls through (armageddon situation), then I will probably find a job working with kids until I find a job to strengthen my resume. I've been part of a Big Brother/Big Sister type program at my college for the past four years, so working at a youth camp or children's hospital wouldn't be too bad and would partially utilize my psych degree.
  8. Well thank you anyways avid man, the fact that it was a poi makes me feel better. I applied to the decision making interdisciplinary department but some of the those professors are housed in the social.
  9. Some of them. My top choices I was preparing SOPs in October and the actual application in November. It was still stressful then, since I'm still a full time student with jobs as well. The earlier you're prepared, the easier it is. To be honest though, the number doesn't really matter if you're happy with those programs, plus applications get expensive.
  10. Zeph and Avidman, would you mind telling me if you got an official departmental notice or a message from poi for OSU? Could you also pm me your poi? If not, that's fine too, it seems many people are hush-hush about their poi.
